Over the course of this weekend’s live period, Kuai Deng Kuai Deng 6'10" | SF/PF The Patrick School | 2025 State NJ displayed the unique and versatile skillset that makes him an intriguing prospect at his size. What stood out the most was Deng’s fluidity in the open floor. Very often, Deng showcased his ability to handle it in the open floor— grabbing rebounds, pushing the break and making the right read to initiate the offense. Deng has elite length and showcased that in his ability to be extremely active on the offensive and defensive glass while also showcasing his versatility as a defender. Deng remains one of the more intriguing unsigned forwards in the class of 2025.

Coming off a strong first session of UAA competition last weekend in Kansas City, Deng looks to continue asserting himself as a potential hidden gem for mid to high-major programs late in the cycle. A quintessential modern forward, the Australian shines with his ability to seamlessly toggle across the positional spectrum on either end of the floor. He has the quickness and skillset to play away from the rim, and has really turned a corner in the past year with his ability and willingness to use his size, leaping ability, and touch to cause havoc as a finisher near the rim. Whether in the high school ranks or the transfer portal, there aren’t many prospects left on the board with Deng’s combination of size, skill, athleticism, and motor.

Deng showcased his smooth mobility and fluidity at 6’10″— sprinting the floor in transition and playing out of DHO’s and off dribble drives in halfcourt sets. In Shoreshots’ matchup against IFN, Deng also showed how capable he is at being effective against a zone— whether that was turning and facing and creating offense for himself or looking opposite and finding open shooters. Look for Deng to continue to build off what was a solid weekend for him heading into session two next month in Ohio.

Fresh off a breakout high school campaign, Deng is playing out the spring grassroots campaign as an unsigned senior looking to further prove himself in the eyes of mid and high major coaches amid the craze over transfer recruiting. While he played as somewhat of a hybrid big for much of the winter, the native of Australia was back playing his natural forward position showcasing his blend of mobile athleticism and inside-out skill. Deng was consistently active around both rims with his length and quick bounce, while also displaying his advanced ability to rip the ball off the glass and initiate the offense in transition. We didn’t see him knock down any jumpers from the perimeter, but with that being something he’s shown in the past, Deng should be highly valued late in the cycle for his activity and blossoming two-way versatility.

Defensively, Deng used his switch-ability and length to be a versatile defender and guard multiple positions, both out on the perimeter and in the low post.

Already one of the bigger stockrisers in the Northeast this winter and fresh off his latest high-major offer from Cal, Deng shined once again with an emphatic double-double in the narrow defeat. Having previously strayed to the perimeter, it’s really impressive how the Aussie has streamlined his skillset and approach into a consistently impactful two-way presence at the rim. He boasts elite quickness and agility for his size, with a soft touch and a natural nose for the ball. Deng’s added a real edge since we first evaluated him, deploying his physical tools to wreak havoc on the glass on both ends. He offers a boatload of defensive versatility as well as he continues to add muscle to his frame. Deng has impressed in each viewing this season to solidify himself as one of the premier unsigned forwards in the region.

Throughout the course of the game, Kuai Deng Kuai Deng 6'10" | SF/PF The Patrick School | 2025 State NJ did a good job of playing within himself and finding ways to impact the game on both sides of the floor. Deng used his size and athleticism in combination with his high motor to be active on the interior, grabbing boards on the offensive and defensive glass as well as finishing around the rim, through contact.

Finishing with 16 points and 5 rebounds, Kuai Deng Kuai Deng 6'10" | SF/PF The Patrick School | 2025 State NJ did a good job of finishing as a vertical lob threat, both in transition and in the half court. Deng also flashed his ability to put the ball on the floor, both in the open floor and in the half court. Playing with a high motor, Deng also did a good job protecting the rim and being active on the glass.

Deng thrived with his athleticism on either end of the floor making plays frequently throughout the game. He was active on the glass and was assertive finding a way to gather steals. He ran the floor and finished above the rim, Deng is a high-flyer. He chipped in 14 points in a win over Hun. Really enjoyed how versatile he is whenever he is on the floor. Division ones in need of size, versatility and athleticism need to get out and evaluate Deng.
