Continuing to find his footing amongst a new group and getting more acclimated at The Patrick School, Yu Lyu Yu Lyu 6'8" | PF The Patrick School | 2028 State NJ demonstrated a willingness to do the work that translates to winning possessions, particularly on the interior. Lyu provided tremendous value in the front court— battling on the boards and extending possessions on the offensive glass, running the rim line hard in the open floor for easy finishes at the basket in transition, and rolling hard and fast out of ball screens in PnR action(s) for strong finishes. Lyu remained impressive with a lot of the designed touches he received in the low post— highlighted by polished footwork and delicate touch to make a move on the block and finish effectively over either shoulder.

Bolstering the front court as a versatile forward capable of impacting the game both inside and from the perimeter, Yu Lyu Yu Lyu 6'8" | PF The Patrick School | 2028 State NJ , although it was in spot minutes, still provided plenty of promise of what his impact could look amongst The Patrick School’s front court group as he acclimates to a new system— battling on the boards to extend offensive possessions, rim running and setting drag screens in the secondary break for finishes at the rim, while also offering efficiency in the dunker spot as a finisher that converted on dump off opportunities from penetrating guards.

Lyu has the ability to play either forward spot, which he should put on display this winter. The 6’8 forward has a smooth release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Lyu can also get to the rim off the bounce and finishes well around the rim. He rarely forces shots in the half court and is an underrated shot-blocker. Lyu is a skilled forward prospect whose ability to stretch the floor and rebound the ball will help his stock in a big way.

Lyu moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups in the half court. He is an underrated rebounder and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Lyu’s ability to stretch the floor along with his ability to finish around the rim is something that makes him an intriguing prospect to track this winter.

A welcoming addition to Paramus Catholic’s front court that’ll provide both an interesting layer to the offense as well as much needed size, Yu Lyu Yu Lyu 6'8" | PF The Patrick School | 2028 State NJ will look to showcase his versatility with strong finishing around the rim, particularly with his low post game along side his unique ability to stretch the floor through his perimeter skillset, knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Lyu leverages his length and physical frame to often times impact the game on both the offensive and defensive boards. Defensively, his combination of size and mobility enable him to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes effectively.
