Expert Analysis

Wade has transferred to Combine Academy and he’ll definitely see himself in the 2026 rankings when updated in January. Waide is a shifty guard with deep range and great feel when in control of the offense. He’s confident in his ability to make plays for himself + others, and it’s easy to see why. Waide has the ball on a string while being supremely coordinated with his footwork. This creates what we call a tough check. Waide has the ability to exploit other guards with consistency. For this Combine team that has had a bunch of new guys come in, expect Waide to emerge as one of the really high level new additions as the season continues.

demonstrated his ability to effectively run offense and create clean and open looks for his teammates while also keeping the defense honest and capitalizing off scoring opportunities when the given the chance to. Despite being undersized, Waide also demonstrated his ability to be a pesky and scrappy defender.
On top of the numerous Division I programs that have already offered throughout the course of the summer, Waide picked up an offer from FGCU after a strong weekend earlier this July.

was extremely affective distributing the basketball and running the offense for B Maze Elite. Playing with good change of pace, Waide showed good feel for the game as a decision maker and a PnR operator— making sharp and on time decisions hitting pocket passes to rolling bigs and spraying out to open shooters. Waide used his quickness off the bounce to get deep in the paint and make plays both for himself and others. Waide showed good instincts as a defender and played with good anticipation defensively— playing with active hands, good timing as a help defender, picking up the length of the floor, and containing drives out on the perimeter.

showed us much of what to expect later this season. Waide’s shot making prowess was on full display— knocking down an array of catch and shoot threes and mid range pull ups. Quick with the ball in his hands, Waide thrived at not only getting in the paint and finishing with craftiness around the basket but also in his ability to be a trustworthy decision maker and facilitate the basketball, creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Waide also shined on the defensive end as a pesky on ball defender that consistently pressured the ball and forced turnovers against opposing ball handlers.
Waide picked up an offer from Canisius over the weekend. With plans to take an official visit to Rider in the near future and a handful of other D1 programs showing interest, look for Waide to continue having a stock rising summer.

benefited as much as anyone from a strong initial live period. Hearing from an array of LM schools, Waide showcased his ability to dissect the defense and create opportunities to score for his teammates— using his quickness to get in the paint and hit dump offs and find open shooters. Completely capable of generating offense for himself, Waide also excelled at creating offense off the bounce from multiple spots on the floor. Waide picked up an offer from Rider and has received interest from the likes of NJIT, Stony Brook, San Diego, Fairfield, Hofstra, Siena, Canisius, and La Salle.

Waide is an electric point guard who has his fingerprints all over the game when he steps onto the floor. He is an offensive maestro who is frequently looking to set teammates up for scoring chances. He has a high basketball IQ and reads and reacts to the game on the fly. He does a nice job changing paces when on the attack. Waide had no issues using ball screens in the half-court. He also showed he can score for himself. Waide also turned defense to offense with his quickness. He will be a priority for low and mid major programs.

Santonio Wade was extremely effective in transition as a playmaker, where he was able to make plays not only for himself, finishing through contact and around defenders at the rim, but also for others, hitting guys ahead in transition and finding open shooters.

In our first extended look at the Kentucky native since coming to TPS early in the season, Wade impressed with his pace, command, and passing ability from the lead guard spot. An old-school pure point guard, he has the ball on a string with a compact handle that he uses to responsibly push the pace or knife into the lane in the halfcourt. His head is constantly up and scanning the floor, showing zero reluctance to keep the ball moving. The southpaw also flashed an ability to reliably space the floor out to the arc. We’re curious to see more of his scoring package, but Wade looks like the type of pass-first dribble-drive threat that scholarship-level programs in the Northeast will covet.
