Murdock has steadily elevated his game and is proving he belongs among the state’s rising prospects. After leading Regis Groff in scoring at 19.4 points per game last season, he has carried that confidence into the summer with Prolific Elite. His ability to attack to his right has become a major weapon, consistently putting defenders on their heels. Around the basket he has added a deeper finishing package that allows him to score through contact or with finesse. Defenses can’t afford to sag off either, as he has been knocking down threes at a high rate. Murdock also shines in the two man game, reading defenses well and creating quality opportunities for teammates, making him a complete offensive threat whose stock continues to climb

Murdock quietly put together one of the steadier weekends I watched, and he has those moments from time to time where he just looks like he has it. Well, he had it. The skill has never been in question, but what stood out at Colorado Live was how much more assertive he became in the offense and how he tries to find different ways to get the ball rather than sitting and waiting for it. Against Fountain-Fort Carson, he had stretches as the scorer where he got downhill instead of waiting for the offense to find him, and looked much more intentional about hunting scoring opportunities. He’s a naturally gifted offensive player who makes difficult shots look easy, and when he combines that skill with an attacking mindset, he changes the complexion of Regis Groff’s offense. I came away encouraged while watching film because I can see him finding his spot for Regis Groff and them making sure he’s their scoring options, which at times they go away from. Not this summer and not at Live, which had him shining.

Producing nearly 20 PPG, 6 RPG, 3 APG, and 3 SPG, Murdock’s two-way poise has led Regis Groff in the right direction. As the AAU season is breaking in, Murdock will get numerous opportunities to showcase his versatile scoring bag and unselfishness on the hardwood. Currently ranked as the second-best SF/SG in his class, Murdock has plenty of eyes on him as he’s ready to shine in the spotlight.

Don’t sleep on his defensive game either, as Murdock leaks in between passing lanes, anticipating the offense and reading his matchup well. Murdock contributes 3 SPG to the 9-0 Fusion.

Murdock proved last season that he’s built for the spotlight, finishing his sophomore campaign averaging 23.3 points and leading Regis Groff with a scoring ability few could match. Early signs this year point to more of the same dominance. He’s a three level threat who’s deadly from the perimeter, explosive in transition and downright dangerous with the ball in his hands. What really separates him is his motor as he flies around the court, competes on every possession and plays tough nosed relentless defense. With his skill, energy and impact on both ends, Murdock has firmly cemented himself as one of the top players in the league

Murdock is off to a blistering start, dropping 34 and 38 points in his first two games while shooting a ridiculous 64% and 74% from the field. Add in 17 total rebounds, and he’s doing everything you could ask for. What makes it even more impressive is the balance in his scoring and he’s not just firing from deep. He’s attacking defenders, carving his way inside, finishing strong at the rim and knocking down his smooth midrange jumper. Murdock is playing like a complete, unstoppable offensive weapon right now

Murdock is certainly a riser as we’ve gotten more eyes on him this summer. The first thing that stands out for him is his versatility. He does a bit of everything, and his team calls for him to do it. He puts the ball on the floor, shoots the 3 ball, runs the offense at times and takes care of the ball, gets on the post or works the perimeter, but he does things with intention. Murdock had a solid sophomore year, and while he is in a bit of a different role this year, he’s still able to be impactful and get himself going. He’s always in attack mode, and what we saw from him this summer as well as at our showcase, he’s a player who knows he belongs. He easily makes the jump in the rankings, looking for more. 

Murdock stood out with his relentless defensive pressure, constantly disrupting ball handlers and forcing turnovers. His quick hands and anticipation created steals that he quickly turned into transition opportunities, where he thrived by running the floor hard and finishing or finding teammates. Beyond his defense Murdock showed a sharp understanding of the game, always positioning himself in the right spots on both ends. He made smart reads in the half court, moving without the ball and taking advantage of openings when they appeared. His combination of defensive intensity, transition play and high basketball IQ made him one of the most dependable and impactful players at the event

Murdock has already shown he can produce at a high level, and with a big full season anticipated for him, this is the perfect spot to make his case as one of the top players in the class. Statistically, he fits the bill as not many were as productive as he was but he only played six games. The showcase gives him the stage to go head-to-head with elite talent, show his complete game, and prove he belongs near the top of the rankings. The timing couldn’t be better to make a statement.

He averaged an impressive 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.7 steals per game, carrying his team on both ends. Murdock scores at all three levels, rebounds over bigger defenders, and pushes the break. This summer, he’s been adjusting to playing with other scorers and while it has altered his game a bit, he has still looked productive. When he and his teammates click, Regis Groff will be dangerous.
