Difference Makers who impressed at Colorado Live

Colorado Live may already be in the rearview mirror, but there were still a handful of performances worth circling back to and that's what we'll focus on this week. This group consistently influenced games in ways that winning teams rely on. After watching multiple games, these were the players who kept showing up in my notes. Lock in now!     Murdock quietly put together one of the steadier weekends I watched, and he has those moments from time to time where he just looks like he has it. Well, he had it. The skill has never been in question, but what stood out at Colorado Live was how much more assertive he became in the offense and how he tries to find different ways to get the ball rather than sitting and waiting for it. Against Fountain-Fort Carson, he had stretches as the scorer where he got downhill instead of waiting for the offense to find him, and looked much more intentional about hunting scoring opportunities. He's a naturally gifted offensive player who makes difficult shots look easy, and when he combines that skill with an attacking mindset, he changes the complexion of Regis Groff's offense. I came away encouraged while watching film because I can see him finding his spot for Regis Groff and them making sure he's their scoring options, which at times they go away from. Not this summer and not at Live, which had him shining.     Bradley is a dawg, and there's no denying that, which gives Eaglecrest an identity every time he steps on the floor. At Colorado Live, he pieced it all together as he looked to be a two-way option who showed he could score as well as defend at a high level. He's physical at the point of attack, embraces difficult defensive assignments, and never backs away from contact, which leads to him turning guys over. He uses his size and strength as an on-ball defender, and when Eaglecrest gets after it and starts pressing, they're a real fun team to watch with him being the defensive anchor. Bradley had a few transition dunks at Colorado Live because the outlet option that got out and scored on the break also changed momentum. He's scoring so much easier, hitting the baseline and scoring off the ball as well. His comfort stands out for me, and we saw that at Live as well as him being a difference maker at Tune-Up as well. He's more than a defensive stopper, and his play will lead to a few wins for Eaglecrest without a doubt.     Kramer is another one of the Regis Groff players who is finding his way, and we've written about him a couple of times this summer as he's just contagious with his play. He truly does play with an edge that fits him for RG and gives them their identity. It's easy to notice the emotion he plays with, but when you settle into the game, you realize how many winning plays he's creating. He pressures the ball for 94 feet, disrupts passing lanes, and forces opposing guards to work hard. Against Fountain-Fort Carson, that defensive energy directly created offense for him, leading to turnovers, transition finishes, and a couple of well-timed floaters in traffic. His offense is starting to pick up. He also showed better patience as a passer, making simple reads that kept the offense moving. I do think there's a bit more for him when he's calm and playing a more controlled game, and there were a few of those moments at Colorado Live.     I watched Lewis-Palmer play a few games at Colorado Live as an entertaining group, and a player who kept making plays for me was Brady. Brady plays above his size, seemed to be involved in almost every action, and handled heavy defensive attention without appearing to be too sped up. What stood out to me was his ability to create separation and create for himself. He was aggressive in the PnR. He attacked gaps and kept getting two feet in the paint, which you want to see from a small guard. In the matchup against Eaglecrest, he got to show just how balanced his game has become as he mixed it up and hit 3's and had a few mini runs. I'm curious to see how Lewis-Palmer adapts to what they saw from Colorado Live, as they clearly have solid guards who can get going, and be the focal point of the offense, and they'll have to lean on guys like Greene a bit more. Stock boosting weekend for him, for me.     Reece plays well every single time I see him as a difference maker. He has a unique ability to change the game in a hurry and is a microwave scorer, and that was on display at Colorado Live. Reece always looked prepared to shoot, found holes in the defense, and spaces the floor. He doesn't need a ton of daylight to get his shot off; he attacks mismatches, and I like his offensive efforts. This was a weekend where the defense also stood out to me as he had steals which turned into easy baskets on the other end, he played deny on shooters, and communicated to teammates to keep the ball out of the hot man's hand. Reece had a balanced performance where he was scoring, making the extra pass, and defending, and it's easy to see why they were in control in almost every game they played. I have high expectations for that Eaglecrest squad this year, and he's one of the reasons why.
