impressed not only with his lethal shot making ability but also his poise as a ball handler and comfortability to initiate offense. Hornberger possesses the necessary shooting intangibles that make his impact far more dangerous beyond putting the ball in the basket— consistently staying shot ready, smooth and fluid footwork coming off different screens and pin downs, and shooting with a quick and high release.

Hornberger, a guard out of the Peddie School, caught our eye with his ability to operate in a variety of ways on the offensive end of the floor. The Columbia commit impressed with his shot making and ability to initiate offense in the half-court. He has good size on the perimeter, a physically advanced frame, and plays with a high level feel for the game. He does a great job of using screens to create an advantage, both with and without the ball, and is consistently shot ready on the catch in catch and shoot situations. Defensively, I liked his ability to guard in space, his effort to make an impact on the glass, and his IQ off the ball in rotations.

had a strong showing that not only saw him shoot the three ball at a high clip but also showcase a little more of his expanded skillset. Hornberger shot it well off the catch and on the move and allowed his shooting prowess to open up other offense for him, putting the ball on the floor with confidence and attacking the basket.
Hornberger picked up an offer from the Naval Academy over the weekend and could see a handful of additional high academic programs get involved in his recruitment.

displayed his ability to be a dangerous threat from the perimeter. Shooting a respectable 33.3% from three point range over EYBL’s second session, Hornberger excelled at playing within himself and being a lethal threat that defenses had no choice but to close out on over the course of the May live period.

Hornberger has a knack for getting open, whether it’s coming off the catch or creating off the dribble. He showed he can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim with control and confidence. His ability to knock down the three keeps defenders honest and opens up driving lanes. With his versatile scoring skill set, he was a consistent offensive threat throughout the game.

A look at the stat sheet would do a grave injustice to Hornberger’s level of impact on the Rens’ 4-0 weekend, as the Lehigh Valley native went scoreless in half his games. Watching the games, it was clear why the Swiss-army guard was on the floor for almost 30 minutes a contest, tapping into a new dimension in his game as a defensive stopper while taking on some of the toughest assignments the country has to offer. Matching up with three top-5 prospects in Tyran Stokes, Dylan Mingo, and Baba Oladotun, Hornberger was made each of them work as a consistent pest with his strength, competitiveness, and deceptive quickness. In games littered with high-major recruits, his presence was consistently felt in a way that earned major points among coaches looking on from low and mid-major programs. Hornberger got going in the final game of the weekend with a pair of 3’s en route to 8 points, showcasing the shotmaking skill that’s typically his calling card.

shined in his ability to be a versatile perimeter shooter. Hornberger showed he’s capable of shooting it off the catch while also utilizing pump fakes and being able to shoot it off one or two dribbles. Hornberger also showed his ability to move well without the ball and often times relocating in the halfcourt. Hornberger averaged 17 PPG across two games in the Prep Open Tournament.
