Nelson steered the ship for his Peddie School squad and consistently found ways to impact winning throughout the weekend. While he wasn’t his team’s primary scorer, he provided valuable offensive depth and made the most of his opportunities, particularly at the foul line. Nelson possesses excellent court awareness and a precise vision of the floor, always seeming to know where teammates are and how to put them in advantageous positions. He also showed the ability to be an effective off-ball slasher, timing his cuts well and capitalizing on openings in the defense. His leadership, feel for the game, and willingness to do whatever is needed for his team make him a highly valuable floor general.

One of the stars of the day regardless of class, Nelson was instrumental in engineering a come-from-behind upset win over Westtown. A floor general who got starting reps as a freshman, he showed impressive poise at the helm of the offense against a bigger, lengthier opposing rotation. Nelson got to his spots off the dribble while also stretching the defense as a dangerous shooter out to the perimeter, knocking down three 3s on his way to 15 points. Expect to see Nelson become a popular name among high-academic programs at the scholarship level in the years to come.

Nelson is a high IQ point guard who touches the game in many different facets. He touches the paint with ease and does a nice job seeking contact on the attack. He is a really good foul shooter and converted a ton of chances there. He has a nose for gathering steals and can turn defense to offense. He had no problem collecting rebounds. Nelson has a nice pulse of finding teammates for scoring chances. I would like to see him become more of a consistent shooter from deep, he is more of a taker than a maker at this stage.

Ethan Nelson Ethan Nelson 5'11" | PG Peddie School | 2028 State NJ is a two way impact guard that excels at being a crafty finisher at the basket and on ball defender that consistently pressures the basketball. Nelson is quick when attacking off the bounce and can finish in traffic using different angles around the basket. Defensively, Nelson effectively pressures the ball and plays with active hands and great anticipation— allowing him to be disruptive against opposing ball handlers and in the passing lanes. Nelson also shows flashes of being able to make plays for others often times when he gets in the paint.
