Carey was just a fun player to watch. He is a quick score first point guard who plays under control. He showed a great ability to always be on balance. He got to the lane and in the midrange and created for himself. His ability to land on two and use his pivot foot creatively. He showed great touch around the rim. He makes scoring look effortless.

Carney impressed with his bunch scoring ability finding different ways to put the ball in the hoop. He is relentless as a paint toucher and does a great job turning the corner. If he is in an offensive groove it is hard for him to get out of it. He also showed flashes creating scoring chances for others. I like how he has had consistent play from the few games I saw of hi during April. He should see many colleges inquire about him over the next several months.

A player I got to see on the 3SSB circuit before he moved to Ohio, Carney is a rhythm scorer who has a pretty left-handed jumper that goes in at a high rate. He came to Ohio holding offers from Bucknell, Bryant, Radford and Akron, Carney was also offered by Fairfield University this week. A guard who can make shots off the catch or dribble and play on or off the ball, it’s easy to see why Division I programs have made Carney a priority.

I caught Carney with Wildcat Select in July and was aware of his move to Western Reserve Academy so I got a bit of a head start with his scouting report as a new member to Ohio. A combo guard who is looking to score the basketball, Carney can make shots off the catch and dribble. I also thought Carney mixed it up in the paint pretty well, rebounding it and playing with physicality. One of the more talented offensive guards in Ohio’s 2026 class, Carney will be a name to know for regional Division I programs as Akron, Radford and Bryant have all offered him since he announced a move to Western Reserve Academy.
