A DC native making his return to the Mid-Atlantic region from his post-grad detour to Ohio, Rojas Joy played about as well as he possibly could have while orchestrating a 4-0 weekend for the Phoenix. With a high-powered group of wings and bigs running alongside him, the Jackson-Reed (DC) product ran the show with poise and precision, keeping the ball on a string while weaving to his spots and consistently setting teammates up for open looks. He showed great chemistry with his bigs on a handful of alley-oops out of pick-and-roll action, and showed his growing ability to stretch defenses as a dynamic shooter from distance. Rojas Joy also made an impact on the other end with spirited point-of-attack defense, stripping ballhandlers on multiple occasions for layups going the other way, none bigger than a Sunday game-winner over Moravian Prep (NC). Entering his post-grad year without much traction at the D1 level, the southpaw could be among the bigger stock-risers in the prep landscape if this weekend was any sign of things to come.

-I’ve been watching Rojas-Joy play since he was in middle school and continue to believe that he is one of the toughest, most competitive guards in the nation. Love that he always raises his level of play in tough moments down the stretch, whether that means he is throwing the go-ahead assist or protecting the basketball to accept the take foul and knock down some big free throws. His shooting allows him to be effective off-ball and he has really improved his ability to finish with either hand around the basket. He’s also taken some nice strides at the defensive end of the floor to use a strong center of gravity to absorb contact on drives to the rim without picking up blocking fouls for impeding the progress of his opponent. You tend to bet on players that show an ability to simply figure it out in tough moments, excited to see how his game develops further in this postgrad year with AOA.

A post grad guard from the DMV area, Rojas Joy didn’t have the recruitment he felt like he deserved after the 2026 high school season. I caught Rojas Joy with WV Gold in Richmond during the first July live period and he stood out with his ability on the ball as a pick and roll ball handler, playmaker for others and perimeter shot maker. While Rojas Joy impressed me the first live period weekend, he had games of 37 and 46 points on back-to-back days during the final July live period with WV Gold. That type of explosion tells me Rojas Joy is a prospect who could blow up as a post grad player on the Elite Prep League circuit and is a name regional Division I and II programs need to check out.

One of my favorite prospects from the weekend, Rojas Joy is originally a 2026 prospect from the DMV but is doing a post grad year with Andrew’s Osborne Academy in the Elite Prep League. Rojas Joy did an excellent job this weekend of finding ways to score around the rim using crafty layups and floaters. Playing off two feet most of the time in the paint, this allowed Rojas Joy to take contact and use his frame to shield off shot blockers. An impressive passer out of the pick and roll, Rojas Joy both found the roll man and hit skip passes to teammates spotting up across the court for open 3-point looks. A complete performance from Rojas Joy this weekend, he should be on low to mid major radars across the midwest going into the final live period.
