Playing in showcase style events both days this weekend, Monroe has impressed down in Columbus and back up in Cleveland. A physical wing forward who has the frame to bully players in the post and on drives, Monroe started the game with a turnaround jumper. Starting to use his physicality more consistently, Monroe had some power layup finishes where he was too big and strong for the defense to stop. Making a nice lefty finish, being able to consistently finish with either hand is a critical skill for Monroe to continue to master at the rim. A prospect who has always had a lot of natural ability, it’s nice to see Monroe put forth some consistent impact performances against quality competition for Lutheran West this weekend.

Monroe’s scoring ability is in no question after Saturday. He was constantly breaking players down off the dribble in one situation. He has a great dribbling package that allows him to get to his spot and pull it. He is a great off-the-dribble shooter. He has great size and was a mismatch for a lot of other guards. He is a midrange player. High volume shooter and scorer.

In a battle between Division III powerhouses, Lutheran West got the victory over Lexington to wrap up the event. Monroe knocked down shots for the Longhorns and scored in transition in a scoring by committee type game for Lutheran West. Good to see Monroe gain some confidence as a shooter with his new team after transferring in from Akron STVM. One of the more talented wings in Ohio’s 2027 class, we’ll be tracking to see if Monroe can continue this upward momentum.

A prospect who had to wait his turn as a freshman, Monroe is a player I expect to burst onto the scene as a Sophomore. We saw Monroe at our freshman showcase and he showed a well-rounded game. A solid athlete, Monroe had a quick first step and good coordination and body for his height. Able to knock down shots from the corner off the catch and attack a closeout, Monroe looks the part offensively. Hope to catch Monroe with Indy Heat and then with his high school program in June to see how far he’s come since our last in-person scout in the fall.

One of the top performers from the Prep Hoops Freshman showcase, Monroe showed off his talent to us firsthand in Columbus in the fall. Playing for a STVM program that typically move freshman along slowly, it’ll be interesting to see how many minutes Monroe gets as a freshman but he’s in a great spot to reach his long-term potential under a coaching staff that’s developed dozens of Division I talents over the years.
