West scoring prowess was on full display throughout the weekend. He connected on a pair of three pointers. I was also impressed on West’s blend of scoring and facilitating the basketball and made a ton of plays for himself and others. I like how West sought out contact on the attack. He was able to start the break and found others in transition. I want to see him use his feet more on defense and use his hands less. Whenever he is around the paint I would like to see him use jump stops and play off of two feet more which he will have to do when he is playing against older and stronger players.

-Loved the moxie and toughness to overcome a slow start with some turnovers in the first half to be a really pesky scorer that kept the game close for most of the 1H. West didn’t allow the score or a bad play to affect his approach as he continued to attack the paint and take open shots from the perimeter. West hit a slow euro into the lay off glass after the defender flew by him in transition, hit a 3 (3/5 from 3 on the night) off the bounce at the top of the key, and showed great passing feel in the halfcourt. West’s ability to handle the rock despite a slight frame and against taller defenders shone through as a young prospect with a bright future given his current skillset.

West makes himself a threat while playing off the ball and has the ability to score from behind the arc. He is always on the lookout to hunt for his own shot. West played sparing minutes as a freshman and is looking to have a larger role headed into his sophomore season. He also shows flashes moving without the ball as a slasher.
