Petty continues to let everyone know that he’s one of if not the best available senior in North Carolina. He’s a true downhill specialist that is dynamic when in attack mode, especially in transition. He just plays so hard all of the time and it’s probably his best skill. His motor is simply elite and then when you combine that with his physical gifts, emerging skillset, and overall approach, you get a potentially instant impact freshman at the division one level if he goes to the right spot. There is 0 doubt in my mind that Petty is a division one prospect, anyone that has spent anytime watching him this year can say that with a high level of confidence. As Christ School continues on in EYBL Scholastic play, I fully expect Petty to get what he deserves and some division one coaches to swoop in late for the talented and athletic wing guard.

One of my favorite players to discover this weekend, Petty stood out in a big way on Saturday evening with an impressive display of drives early in the game. With his quick first step and decisive attacking style, Petty was getting to the rim at will early in the game and finishing easily at the rim. In the second half, his 3-point shooting ability was put on display as he knocked down a couple jumpers from the corner. Looking like a surefire Division I target from the wing guard position, Petty should be on low to mid major radars across the southeast as he’s been stringing together multiple impressive performances this winter.

has exploded onto the scene as one of North Carolina’s premier shooters and scorers. The 6’5” guard torched defenses at the Phenom Tip-Off, dropping 31 points (including 6 threes) in a win over Davidson Day and earning MVP honors. His high-release jumper, shot-creation off the dribble, rebounding for his position, and multi-positional defense should have college coaches raving.
Petty’s versatility as a big guard who can handle, shoot deep, and finish has him firmly on college radars, with increased attention following his recent dominant stretch. He’s a key reason Christ School remains a statewide powerhouse.

. He plays for
Upward Stars SE
17U and attends Christ School in North Carolina. Petty has a knack for making things happen on both ends of the floor. He showed just that in Upward’s win over Elite 1, putting up 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists. He was particularly efficient in the second half, limiting turnovers and knocking down shots from the perimeter. Dacen’s playmaking is something that should intrigue College Coaches because most of his assists were as a secondary playmaker on the wing.

Petty is another guard out of Christ School who continues to rise up the rankings as he moves to 18th in the latest market corrections in NC’s 2026 class. He’s an underrated guard given his athleticism and continued development as a scoring threat in the backcourt. He put up 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game in the Greenies’ run to another state title. He led the team in 3-pointers made with 64, shooting at 44 percent on the year. His ability to space the floor and keep defenses guessing with his perimeter shot are an asset to any DI program in the region. He’ll be a prospect to keep an eye on on the adidas scene with Upward Stars 3SSB.

-Really loved his feel in the halfcourt as a connecting guard that can get paint touches to create on his own or can deliver quick one-more passes on the perimeter to hit an open shooter to create a clean look from beyond the arc. Petty had a way of passing shooters open by leading them to the corner or other open pockets in the defense but he also did a great job of locating his big for easy dump-offs around the rim. Had a great string of possessions midway through the 2Q, hitting a corner 3 of his own then finding teammates to collect 4 assists in that stretch of the half alone. With above-average quickness and some good measurables to compliment a well-rounded skillset, I enjoyed watching this off guard prospect make plays for the Greenies.

Petty is another prospect out of Christ School who’s climbing up the ranks in the 2026 class. He’s shown he can do multiple things in their backcourt as well with 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per contest on 43 percent shooting from deep. He’s led the way for the Greenies in 3-pointers made (38) while averaging 2.2 3-point makes per game in 2024-25. He’s another prospect for DI in the region to get eyes on given his prowess scoring the ball and attacking the rim.

Petty moves into the 2026 class and over to Christ School as he looks to improve his stock and development by joining a prestigious NCISAA program. They’ve got a number of college prospects already in the fold as Petty joins the lineup with his ability to attack the paint and knock down shots on the perimeter. Look for his stock to grow very soon!
