Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Previous Rank: 28 (+14)
Cox’s rise has been well chronicled in New England over the last 12 months. A combo-guard committed to Purdue, Cox is as competitive as they come and has really taken his game to new levels as a ball-handler and offensive initiator recently. He’s able to get to his spots offensively and might have the best mid-range pull-up game in New England. Defensively, he’s done a good job getting to a spot where he can keep opposing guards in front of him on the perimeter and has even show a willingness to mix it up in the paint for rebounds. His IQ and commitment to playing winning basketball stand out and are just as much a part of his rise in the rankings as anything else.

Cox had it going early on offensively, scoring in a variety of ways in Milton’s win. Able to play with the ball in his hands or on the wing, Cox got to his spot time after time, making timely midrange baskets late in the shot clock. While his offensive game popped this summer, it’s his compete level and will-to-win that sticks out the most for me. Defensively, he does a great job guarding the ball, manages to come up with difficult rebounds in traffic, and is a good communicator. It’ll be fun to watch his continued progress as he looks to lead Milton to another NEPSAC A championship before he heads off to Purdue.

There might not be a player in the region who improved their stock as much in the last year as Cox, and ultimately, that led to his commitment to play for Matt Painter at Purdue. The Milton Academy guard, and longtime member of the Middlesex Magic, is known a tough shot maker, standout defender, and most importantly, a winner. He chose Purdue over offers from Northeastern, Penn, UMass, Vermont, William & Mary, Yale, and more.
