With over 30 teams and hundreds of college coaches in attendance, the Hoop Hall Prep Showcase had tons of talent from all over the country and is always one of the top events in the country.
Here’s a look at part two of the standouts from the New England schools in attendance.
CJ Cox CJ Cox 6'1" | CG Milton Academy | 2024 State NLG | 6’2” WG | Milton 2024
The Purdue commit is coming off a huge summer with Middlesex Magic, and he was big for Milton despite them dropping a heartbreaker to their rival Loomis Chaffee in double overtime. Cox did what he did best knocking down shots from deep at a very high clip, showing he can play on or off the basketball and he rebounded well and made plays for others. He finished with 19 points going 5-for-9 from deep and pitched in 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Nick Petronio Nick Petronio 6'3" | SG Milton Academy | 2024 State #250 Nation NLG | 6’3” WG | Milton 2024
The Boston College commit didn’t have his best game of the year, but he still finished with a big game and made tough shots when his team needed him the most. The 6’3” off guard is a strong guard who can get downhill and score it at the rim, he can drill it from deep consistently and with effortless range and he’s a natural leader who is vocal on both ends of the floor. He finished with 18 points making 4 three-pointers and pitched in 5 rebounds.
Austin Hunt Austin Hunt 6'4" | SG Milton Academy | 2024 State #278 Nation NLG | 6’4” WG | Milton 2024
Harvard has a very good recruiting class coming in with a lot of guys who can shoot it at a high clip, and Hunt is not just one of those but much more as well. The 6’4” two guard plays with a great motor and is always running the floor and competing on the glass, he can score it in the midrange and at the rim and he can knock it down from deep, as mentioned before. He finished with 29 points on 12-for-20 shooting and 3-for-5 from deep with 9 rebounds against Loomis Chaffee.
Oscar Edelman Oscar Edelman 6'8" | PF New Hampton | 2024 State NLG | 6’9” C | New Hampton School 2024
Edelman was being recruited by some division one schools before choosing to go to Wesleyan, one of the top academic D3s in the country, and he should be able to make an immediate impact the way he’s been playing this year. He’s a versatile big who can step out and knock down shots from deep and is a good passer on the perimeter, he can rebound and bang in the post and he plays with a motor and intelligence that’s hard to find together. He finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds in their game I watched against Newman.
Mason Blackwood Mason Blackwood 6'5" | SF New Hampton | 2025 State NLG | 6’6” WF | New Hampton School 2025
Blackwood was a breakout player last year for New Hampton and with them returning so many talented players it’s easy to see why they’re one of the top teams in New England this year. Blackwood is a smooth wing who can play on or off the ball and is an effective scorer from all over in both scenarios, he can make plays for others off the bounce and he can do a little bit of everything when he’s on the court. He finished with 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field in their loss to Newman.
Keyshaun Tillery | 5’11” PG | New Hampton School 2025
Tillery has been one of the most exciting players to watch in New England over the past few years, and he was absolutely dynamite when I watched them at Hoop Hall. The 5’11” guard is a big time athlete who is quick and fast with the ball in his hands and is an explosive finisher, he can make tough shots from deep and get hot quickly and he’s a big time playmaker when he gets in the paint. He finished with 15 points and 12 assists in their loss.
Jayden Harrington Jayden Harrington 6'3" | SG Seton Hall Prep | 2025 NLG | 6’3” WG | New Hampton 2026
Herrington is one of the new additions to this New Hampton group, and he is in a great situation as he’s an absolute driller from deep who can play off the talented guards and fill it up from deep. He showed a quick release with great form and deep range, he relocated well to get open and he showed he can attack closeouts and finish in the midrange and at the rim. He went for 26 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field and 7-for-9 from deep as well.
