Harrington, a senior guard out of New Hampton in New Hampshire, continues to take strides in his overall game and has turned himself into one of the top perimeter prospects in the region. New Hampton is part of a group of teams tied for 3rd in the standings at 5-5 in league games, with Harrington helping them to stay competitive each and every night. Harrington’s ability to shoot the basketball has always been a standout skill, but it’s his improvement with the ball in his hands and in his decision making that has stood out this winter. He plays in a way that allows the offense to operate smoothly and aids in the success of his teammates. He’s made a commitment on the defensive end of the floor and to rebounding that has elevated his game this winter. Harrington is another uncommitted prospect and, at this point in time, is one of the top ranked uncommitted guards in New England.

Harrington has a real case as the best shooter in New England. The 6-foot-4 wing has a beautiful shot release and can shoot the rock off of the dribble, off the move, and with a defender draped all over him. He also has significantly improved his handle and is an excellent closeout attacker because of his IQ and quick decision making. He also has great passing vision and is supremely unselfish. Defensively, he plays incredibly hard and is a phenomenal help side defender. Harrington is a special player who should get high major looks despite his perceived lack of athleticism.

A very improved shooter at first glance the most improved in the NEBL league, more confidence having the green light with the capability to make hurried shots with side steps, off PNR’s, catch and shoots. He appears to have a longer wing span based off the eye test even though the roster from last year has the same height listed. He defends well whether its positions 1-3. A stronger athlete who explodes more efficiently and I predict he will be on many college radars soon during his senior campaign. He can either have a really great D2 career or make major contributions in the Ivy League, Patriot, Southern, Southland type leagues.

+32 (#65 to #33)
Harrington, a guard out of the New Hampton School, jumped 32 spots in this rankings update. The big guard finished his summer with the Mass Rivals and continued to impress with his ability to consistently knock down shots from behind the arc. At 6’5″, he has the ability to defend multiple positions, uses his length to his advantage in passing lanes, and doesn’t mind mixing it up physically on the glass. Offensively, he’s a willing ball mover that has good vision as a passer. He makes catch and shoot threes, has the ability to get his jumper off in tight windows, and is improving as a rim finisher.

Harrington doesn’t play AAU ball but has clearly been working on his game and body this offseason. He looks a lot stronger and more comfortable with the ball in his hands, which he’ll have to be without 3 D1 players returning. He mostly just played off ball last year (very effectively), but he’ll get a chance to run some pick and roll this season and have the ball on more second-side attacks (he did against Newman this weekend and looked very comfortable). I’m really impressed with his mid range game and general feel to get to spots on the floor. He’s an under the radar name that more scholarship coaches need to be thinking about.

Harrington has taken a big jump with his game over the last several months and is seeing the dividends pay off. He was really active on the glass and put himself in good positions on the floor to shag rebounds. He was able to score from different spots on the floor. Harrington has a great understanding of the game and is extension of the coach on the floor. He should be a priority for low major plus programs.

While there’s more to his bag that he shows in other settings, Harrington has carved out a key niche in the New Hampton rotation with his ability to space the floor. Always in the right spot to find open space and with the confidence to get shots up quickly in big moments, the Jersey native has been consistently efficient with his scoring while swinging games with his binges from beyond the arc. Not just a shooter, he’s shown positive flashes as a scorer with a balanced skillset off the bounce, and as a playmaker with a high IQ for the moving parts of the floor. We’ll have to see how he holds up defensively against D1 athletes in the backcourt, but his translatable skillset will attract coaches across the scholarship level over the coming year.

I just love Harrington’s game so much. He knows that he plays with three big-time creators in Tillery, Meyer and Blackwood, so he never holds the ball for more than a second and is constantly moving around the court while being ready to pull from three. He has a flamethrower for a right arm but also has excellent vision once he gets into the paint, which he does often as a result of players not knowing how to close out to him. He plays the game the right way offensively, and it’s wonderful to watch. The junior would definitely raise his stock by getting stronger and improving his lateral quickness defensively, but he has some time to do so. I’m not sure he’ll get scholarship looks, but he should because of the way he thinks the game and provides space for everyone around him to operate.

Harrington is a supreme role player. He is always shot-ready on the catch and attacks closeouts with so much decisiveness – he always knows what he’s going to do before he gets the ball. His elite three-point shooting ability forces defenders to overplay him, and then he does a really good job making decisions once he’s in the paint, oftentimes being patient and waiting for cutters to enter the lane before finding them for layups. Harrington could use some added weight and size to help him on the defensive end, but his skill set and mind are already well beyond his years, and the effort is there at all times. Love his game, and he might be the best extra passer in the NEBL.

Rise: +24
Harrington, a big guard with a good feel for the game on both ends of the floor, rises up the rankings after proving to be one of the region’s top perimeter shooters. A previously under-the-radar prospect, Harrington played a key role as a floor spacer last winter for New Hampton. He has in-the-gym range, does a good job of moving without the basketball, and seems to always be shot ready on the catch. As he’s gotten stronger, he developed more of an off the bounce game, allowing him to leverage his shooting and attack bad closeouts. Defensively, he sees plays before they develop, allowing him to be disruptive in passing lanes. He’ll continue to draw the attention of coaches with his elite shooting ability, but could continue to open eyes as he adds more elements to his game.
