Barrett was steady all weekend as he looks to generate some buzz after finishing his last year of high school ball. The potential post-grad route is still in play, but Barrett has garnered some Division I recruitment over the last few months and he’s looking to answer questions with production this spring. After a slow start in game one, he rebounded nicely finishing the final three contests much stronger fashion as his best game came in a loss to B-Maze Elite where he tallied a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. As the weekend progressed, so did Barrett’s ability to get to his spots off the bounce. Playing mainly on the perimeter, he attacked off the catch with more confidence on Saturday and Sunday with good pace and lift on his mid-range jumpers. He was a consistent presence on the glass and got his fingertips on a few attempts in the paint throughout the three-day span.

A high-upside forward who is starting to scratch the surface at the right time. He shows flashes of being able to score off the bounce, particularly with his in-between game. I like how he uses his length to impact the game on the defensive end. Barrett is a switchable defender with the ability to guard multiple positions.

A very promising young developing forward that possesses nice intriguing agility & developing skill set with strength and maturity. Excellent student merits college level tracking! Played with good pace and displayed blow by paint touch and scoring ability. Bryton length and ability to handle the ball make plays in the open court and be a multiple positionless defender will be intriguing at the next level. Scored 9 points on 2-5 from the field, 0-2 from the 3pt line, 5 rebounds, and 1 block in the upset victory over DeMatha.

-Barrett continues to impress our scouts as a floor-spacer that picks his spots to knock down open jumpers without dominating the ball. Barrett uses his size to snag rebounds in and around the paint and has expanded his game to hit turn-arounds or touch shots in the key to convert on those O-boards. His ability to get into his shooting form quickly off the bounce or off the catch at 6’8 is extremely valuable to the success of the Lions’ offense.

Barrett wasted no time in carving out a role with Carroll and using the platform to showcase his full skill set as a long, 6-foot-8 hybrid forward with a high ceiling as a defender. The defensive tools have been present since his days at Mount St. Joseph (MD), but his offensive game has blossomed in large part because of his overall confidence. Barrett is knocking down shots off the catch with efficiency, getting to spots in minimal bounces for pull-ups, and in the open floor he’s bringing a mindset of playing above the rim whether a defender is in his way or not.

is among us. A 6-foot-8 hybrid forward who spent much of his early years pinned around the paint, Barrett gets to stretch his wings with Archbishop Carroll playing alongside the most dynamic playmaking guard in Anthony Brown (Vanderbilt). Barrett has shown significant growth in his skillset, which beams with confidence as he gets to his spots and uses his length to rise over the top of his defender for fluid jumpers. He’s now a catch-and-shoot threat that the defense must account for at all times and the athleticism is catching up with his frame to make him an above the rim threat with a clear lane to takeoff. Defensively is where Barrett has always brought the most worth and that’ll be a key piece to him seeing time early on as a freshman in college. For now, he has a strong chance of filling in as a secondary scoring role next to Brown while being one of the more versatile forward defenders in the DMV.

Barrett’s bump is a result of the production he’s consistently shown this fall with his new school in Archbishop Carroll. The 6-foot-8 hybrid forward played with Team Takeover on the EYBL circuit this summer and used that experience to set himself up for a big senior season alongside Vanderbilt commit Anthony Brown. Not only has Barrett polished his ability to operate off the bounce in short spurts, he’s continued to sharpen his catch-and-shoot abilities and pose as a real threat from deep. His defensive tools shine the brightest with his blend of length, anticipation, and the mindset of rebounding out of his area to closeout possessions. Barrett received his first Division I offer from Howard and moved 19 spots up in the rankings to No. 19 overall.

Bryton continues to show flashes of a high-ceiling prospect that could become a major name in the DVM area playing in the prestigious WCAC league. With his size, length, and advanced offensive polish, Bryton already stands out as a natural scorer. He has a smooth shooting stroke from the perimeter, can handle in transition, and uses his athleticism to attack closeouts and finish above the rim. His confidence continues to grow, and as he refines his handle and consistency, his stock will only rise. Barrett’s combination of physical tools and offensive skill gives him the look of a future Division 1wing prospect.

Barrett was a clear standout over the weekend and poses as one of the local prospects who is primed to turn the corner this season. He was often involved with conversations as a guy who has plenty of potential and while that remains the case, he’s beginning to turn that potential into consistent production for Archbishop Carroll. Howard took notice and became the first DI program to offer the 6-foot-8 wing. A few other programs are keeping tabs, but the Bison being first could end up benefitting them in the end as they look for the next under the radar DMV prospect to blow up similar to Blake Harper.

Simply put, Barrett was in his bag this weekend. The 6-foot-8 wing is at the point in his development where the potential is turning into production as he looks to be a staple for this Archbishop Carroll team in a fairly wide open WCAC. His recent momentum has to do with his clear boost of confidence and assertiveness as a scoring threat. Barrett’s always been an underrated shooter from deep especially on corner three’s, but now he’s lifting up to the break and the top of the key with certainty as a pick-and-pop threat.
In the open floor, no longer is Barrett allowing defenders to get off easy by avoiding body contact. He’ll establish the bump himself whether it be on the way to the bucket or in the air with the body control to convert. Playing alongside Anthony Brown, it supplies Barrett with ample opportunities to attack off the catch and utilize his lengthy strides to glide to the basket.
Barrett recently received his first offer from Howard.
