Pickerington Central made a Cinderella run to the final four with Moore III as a major stock riser throughout the tournament. A two guard who takes long strides on drives, attacks closeouts and can score at the rim or make the extra pass to a shooter. Moore’s length also gives him defensive upside as he’s continued to improve each time I watch him play at both ends of the court. Moore III looks like a priority small college target in central Ohio’s 2027 class and a prospect who should have a busy summer ahead of him.

Pickerington Central is a team I’ve gotten the chance to watch a lot in the month of June and during fall scrimmages because they’ve happened to be at a lot of events I’ve covered. Moore III has stood out with his defensive impact, high motor and slashing ability in the paint. A prospect we’ve already discussed a few times from those June events and fall scrimmages, not much more to say about Moore III at the moment besides the fact he’s produced at a high level to earn a spot in our rankings and will have the chance to improve that mark over the next two years.

on Saturday, I got to see some other players for Pickerington Central play with the ball in their hands and have more offensive responsibility. Moore III had some bright flashes in June and continued his upward trajectory as an athletic guard who can really get to the bucket in both the half court and transition. Moore III has the length to jump passing lanes and his steals usually end up in a layup for Moore III or a teammate at the other end. Pickerington Central has had a young team the past few seasons and now those young players have the varsity experience and talent to make another run at conference and district titles.

Pickerington Central has been short-handed at a bunch of events this summer but are starting to hit their stride thanks to a breakout summer for Moore III. A quick twitch athlete, Moore III changes directions quickly and has a lot of burst with the ball in his hands. Moore III was most productive offensively in the open court but his length and athleticism makes him a potential impact defensive player as well. I think Moore III could be a breakout name this winter in central Ohio.

Moore is just a flat-out smart basketball player. He out-thought the other team and that was the catalyst to Nova advancing to the semifinals. In a hectic game, Moore kept his team in sync with patience and good decisions. There’s zip on his passes. When it was time to score, Moore slid past defenders, often finishing on floaters. He also, at least one time, finished with full-extension to avoid a shot-blocker. Shoots it well.
