Morman had a really strong weekend with Team Loaded VA 3SSB 16u propelling them to a 4-0 weekend averaging 13.5 Points, 3.3 Rebounds, 3.8 Assists, and 2.8 Steals on 53/33/71 shooting splits for session one. Morman possesses the ability to manipulate the defense with his live dribble and ability to score the basketball from all over the floor. Morman is a confident finisher with both hands in traffic, allowing him to overcome his lack of height in the paint. This group is loaded with talent and I fully expect Morman to find a way to elevate his production within the flow of the offense as he gets more and more comfortable with this group.

The talented lead guard from North Carolina led the way for Team Loaded in California, averaging 13.5 points and 3.8 assists per game. Morman is excellent with the basketball in his hands, showcasing elite quickness and the ability to score at all three levels. With his combination of skill, pace, and playmaking, expect high major coaches to become very familiar with this sophomore in the coming months.

Morman showed confidence in big moments, finishing with 16 points and knocking down key shots late in a tight game. He handled the ball a ton and wasn’t afraid to take tough shots when the clock was winding down. His ability to create his own offense stood out, even under pressure.

Morman is simply a special player that is in full understanding of the moment he finds himself in every single time out. In a final four matchup vs a very discipline and talented final four team, Morman had a classic performance in one of the biggest games of his career up to this point. In the 65-55 win, Morman finished with 27 Points, 2 Rebounds, 1 Assist, and 1 Steal while shooting 8-16 from the floor and 11-12 from the line. Morman has truly special ability around the rim where he can finish in traffic with either hand. Morman’s ability to control the game down the stretch gives his team the upper hand more often than not. After coming up just short last year, Morman is looking to leave Winston-Salem with a ring on his finger this go around as Southern Durham will look to face Mooresville in the 7A State Championship.

The top ranked prospect in NC for 2028 showed why he’s worthy of his ranking with another big-time night with a team high of 29 Points. His end-to-end speed is one of the attributes that stands out the most as he can create quick offense for his team simply by using his speed before defenses can get set up.

After a masterful game vs Petersburg that ended with him hitting a game winner. Morman arguably played the most dominant offensive game of his life vs Broughton. Morman finished with an astounding 41 Points, 6 Rebounds, and 3 Steals. He did all of this on 13-18 from the floor, 3-5 from deep, and 12-14 from the line. Dominant, efficient, and simply a joy to watch. His recognition of what his team needs from him on any given night is so advanced, and part of what makes him an elite PG. He’s on the smaller side and that hasn’t impacted him yet, he looks to check all of the boxes needed for a sub 6’0″ guard to play at the highest level of college basketball and we cannot wait to see him get there.

Morman possesses the ability to completely control a game from start to finish while manipulating both his own team and the opposition into getting exactly what he needs. His timing as a passer is his greatest trait, add in the moxy as a scorer and AJ immediately makes himself one of the best backcourt weapons in the State regardless of class. Morman played every single second of this contest and his team needed him to. He was able to get a switch onto a big and drill a step-back three with 1.3 seconds to play giving his team the lead and eventually the win. It capped off a 22 Point performance where Morman finished 6-11 from the floor including 3-4 from beyond the arc. The book of Morman continues to be written, and it’s becoming a can’t miss story every single time out.

We just wrote about Morman last week but his performance vs Caldwell Academy deserves even more attention. Morman got his team off to a really strong start, attacking the paint to make plays, getting his shooters quality looks early. He probably has the best timing as a passer in the State, he simply knows when to get rid of it and when to keep it in a way that most other guards do not. He made timely plays when calling his own number for baskets, all while bringing a real emotional edge to the game. Morman was able to seal the win with a block on a jumper with less than 5 seconds remaining. He found a way to execute in the final 3 minutes of the game at an elite level. Advanced feel, advanced skill, and real self belief.

We couldn’t do this list without touching on what AJ Morman AJ Morman 5'10" | PG Southern Of Energy And Sustainability | 2028 State #95 Nation NC has been doing for Southern Durham this season. Not sure if there is a kid in NC with a better feel with the ball in his hands, special timing as a passer, and continuing to rapidly develop as an athlete in the open floor. Morman has always had elite end to end speed, he is now floating above the rim with consistency making him that much more dangerous in transition. Morman has shown the ability to make shots from the outside with consistency as well. His performance last week vs Greenfield was simply magnificent. In an OT win vs the NCISAA 2A contenders, Morman finished with 18 Points, 8 Assists, and 7 Rebounds. A signature performance for one of The HoopState’s signature players.

The top-rated prospect in the state showed why he deserved that ranking, finishing with 25 points in the heated main event. He was a blur with the ball in his hands and got to his spot with an extreme poise that you like to see from your legal guard. He’s added a few pounds to his frame and has started to play above the rim in transition and threw down a nice dunk to help seal the deal.
