2028 Rankings: Real Playmakers

We recently dropped the latest update for the North Carolina 2028 rankings and in a state stacked with talent consistently, this class stands above the rest. There is truly so much next level talent in this class in this state that it's hard to put into words. With that said, we're going to focus on some of the key playmakers in North Carolina.    Morman continues to establish himself as a premier playmaker in the 2028 class nationally and we've seen it up close here in NC for the last few years. Now playing his travel ball with Team Loaded VA, Morman has been crucial in that group's success over the course of the spring/summer so far. Morman has simply an advanced feel for the game with the ability to make every play on the floor at his size. One of the other traits that he possesses that allows him to operate freely is how talented he is as a finisher at the rim with either hand. Morman's got three level touch, great feel, and special ability that make him a complete package small point guard that should get recruited at the highest level.     St. Louis had a really strong first season in North Carolina at Winston-Salem Christian this past season and has used that momentum to carry into his success thus far with [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road'] 16u 3SSB. He's got a great natural pace and flow to his game that allows him to operate with the basketball and make plays for himself or others at a high volume. St. Louis is really high level at operating out of ball screens where he often gets to his spot in the middle of the floor where he takes runners and floaters at a high volume and efficiency. St. Louis does a remarkable job balancing his own scoring with his playmaking as he helps run this team at a high level. St. Louis checks a lot of the boxes for a high level skilled guard and is starting to get the recruiting attention that comes with that.     Jones has been a top performer and playmaker in this North Carolina 2028 class after a great HS season at Ardrey Kell and is now finding himself gaining momentum and confidence quickly with Elite 1 as he's playing up an age division. Jones can really heat up and make shots while also possessing the ability to break anybody down off the bounce with his live dribble. When you combine Jones ability to shift defenders with his deep range off the bounce, it makes him a nearly unguardable player when the jumper is falling. Jones is a really fun guard to watch and a guy to monitor closely as his recruiting will surely pick up in the next 12-18 months.     Townsend is a dynamic player and despite being on the smaller side is very capable of running the show for a team and producing at a high level. Townsend is running with Legacy Hoops and he had a special season with Warren County as he led them on a long playoff run making big plays along the way. Townsend touches the paint basically whenever he wants and is capable of finishing in traffic with either hand. He's got the ability to make outside shots off the catch or bounce but Townsend is at his best when getting downhill as he's got that natural attacking mindset. Townsend will be a fun guard to monitor and is clearly a next level talent that will get more and more attention from college coaches over the next 1-2 years.     Youngs has been an emerging guard in this stacked 2028 class after a strong sophomore season at Broughton leading into a great start this spring/summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2375668' first='SW15H' last='Elite'] UA Rise 16u. Youngs has real flare to his game, deep shooting range, and a super high IQ that allows him to make all of the necessary plays to get the win. He's a running back on the football team and he's more than comfortable playing through contact when trying to get to the rim. He knows how and where to get his talented teammates the basketball while being more than comfortable playing in a wide open system or a slower half-court style when needed. He's a fun guard to watch play and is super effective for whatever team he's suiting up for and is really proving himself as a bonafide next level player.     Wilson is a smooth and skilled guard in NC's 2028 class that had a great sophomore season at Metrolina Christian and has been great with Warriors Elite 16u for the travel ball season. Wilson is consistently making outside shots, running his team, and making scrappy plays defensively to help swing possessions on that end of the floor. Wilson's consistent production, control, and leadership make him a viable point guard in this stacked 2028 class and a guy that can be relied on to consistently make plays for whichever team he's suiting up for. Wilson uses angles and his eyes to manipulate the defense, displaying his advanced feel for the game as an on-ball player. Bonafide next level player.
