Gavin is a player who just gets things done. He impacts winning in a big way with his ability to facilitate as well as defend at a high level. Headed to Western Kentucky, Murphy is reminiscent of current Hilltopper guard Jack Edelen. Undersized but very effective. Gavin climbed from 41st to 31st in this round of updates.

It’s hard to call a player with multiple D1 offers a “Sleeper” but Murphy is often overlooked when talking about top players in the 12th region, let alone in the state. More of a floor general from the point guard spot, Gavin is a capable scorer who can create his own offense or facilitate for others.

One of the biggest overall movers this update, Murphy moved from 144th to 75th overall. Gavin is more of a pass-first, floor general type of player. He’s at his best when he’s able to orchestrate the offense in the half court and is a more than capable shot maker.

Hard to say a player is a sleeper when he’s tweeted out multiple D1 offers but Saturday gave Gavin an opportunity to showcase his talents and he had a good day. Murphy also tested really well athletically.

Murphy was impressive during the open gym. He is a quick, shifty PG with really good vision and handle. Seems like the game comes natural to him. He hit a couple tough shots from deep. Was at his best when he could get in rhythm off the dribble to score. Very crafty around the basket and has good touch. As he continues to develop and grow he will be one of the better players in the state by his junior or senior year.
