Kisner emerged as one of the more intriguing guards we saw this summer, earning his way onto our radar with his ability to control games from the point. He plays with a calm confidence, makes good decisions and brings a natural leadership presence that stands out for his age. Kisner showed he can take command of an offense and carry a team when needed, which gives us plenty of confidence in his long term potential. There may be plenty of competition for minutes with several upperclassmen ahead of him, but we expect Kisner to make the most of every opportunity and continue proving why he belongs in the rankings

I went back and rewatched the event in its entirety, and Cruz might’ve been the top guard at the event on 2nd watch. He was decisive, he made plays for others and found a great balance of when to score but also find teammates, he was deceptive as he used the PnR and snaked it for drives but kept the defense guessing, and he looked confident with the ball. There were stretches where he was in a groove, and I feel as if he came to the event to prove a point. He changed pace well and broke defenders down with his handle. Cruz made a couple of 3-pointers and held his own defensively. It was a balanced attack but a stock-boosting day for sure, and we’ve seen more of it lately. His next step is just taking over an alpha mentality where he wants to go at a player each time down the floor, command and direct the offense, and prove that same point each time out. Big time weekend for his stock for me personally. 

This was the most complete I’ve seen Kisner look as a lead guard. He consistently ran the offense, controlled the tempo, and understood when to create for himself versus getting teammates involved. His downhill game opened everything up for Tr,u and he had some creative finishes, and once he reached the paint, he showed that he could finish with either hand in traffic, which you aren’t seeing too often at this level.  More importantly, the pace looked different. The game appeared to slow down, allowing him to process what’s happening instead of forcing plays. He was a bit more assertive despite being a floor general, and if he continues to attack opposing guards, I feel that opens up even more parts of his game. I feel that there’s another jump coming for him, and with him getting more varsity time and just getting out and competing more, he’ll be on more radars. I liked what I saw from Cruz at the event. 

Kisner may not have seen varsity minutes at Cherokee Trail last season, but the way he’s playing this summer makes it feel like that’s about to change quickly. He looks every bit like a true point guard with the way he controls tempo, makes smart reads and keeps the offense organized. His handle is tight, he changes pace well to create openings and he consistently finds teammates with sharp passes that many players don’t even see. What’s really elevating his game though is the scoring confidence he’s showing. Defenders can’t simply play the pass anymore because he’s proving he can knock down shots from deep, attack gaps and finish plays himself. As his confidence continues growing, Kisner is becoming a player that could make a major jump heading into next season

Kisner showed he’s a complete point guard, consistently controlling the pace and keeping his team steady throughout the weekend. He played with poise, never rushed and made smart decisions with the ball in his hands. His vision stood out, finding teammates in the right spots while also showing the ability to break down defenses off the dribble. He also proved he can score, knocking down shots when needed and taking advantage of openings within the flow of the offense. He brought tough in your face defense , applying pressure and making opposing guards uncomfortable. Kisner’s leadership, scoring ability and two way impact made him a true floor general all tournament long
