Well, we're here. The sprint of the high school season has begun as the public school state tournament is in full swing. Last night, regional title games took place all around the state to help set the stage for the quarterfinal round. We start our rundown with a loaded Class 4A bracket and results of each game below.

Flowers defeats Wise

The Jaguars kept to their dominant ways with a 97-78 win over Wise as the Prince George's County Player of the Year, 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2639998' first='Brandon' last='Brooks'], poured in an impressive 36-point performance. The Pumas tried numerous tactics defensively, but just didn't have anyone to matchup with Brooks' size and frame around the paint and when he was left open from mid-range or deep, he made them pay in that sense as well. One of the top scorers in the state, 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2528359' first='Dion' last='Walker'], made his impact for the Pumas in their up-tempo offense and if he wasn't scoring as a slasher he was touching the paint in order to collapse the defense and create for others. According to the MPSSAA website, Flower will host Broadneck in a quarterfinal matchup.

Meade handles Mervo

Mervo pulled off what many consider was a massive upset in the second round with a win over Severna Park to advance and play the reigning Anne Arundel County champs in their home gym. Meade, like Flowers above, is another program that can put up a large number in the scoring column when they're rolling as a team and thats what happened as they reached triple-digits in the 100-75 victory, claiming their fifth-straight regional championship. 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2453744' first='Arouna' last='Soumaoro'] proved again that he's one of the best available bigs in the Maryland Public School sector with a 33-point, 12-rebound double-double. 2026 Ryden Rodney-Sandy exploded for a career-high 24 points and 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2575614' first='Keon' last='Scott'] tallied his typical full stat line of 21 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds and four steals. There's a unique sitaution of a tie between Seneca Valley and Eleanor Roosevelt to see who gets the 6/7 seed. Meade will host whoever is decided as the 7 seed in the quarterfinals.

Whitman contains Walter Johnson

Whitman won their third consecutive regional title last night with a 57-45 win over Walter Johnson and will host Dulaney in the quarterfinals on Friday evening. The trio of 2027 Max Williams, 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2886343' first='Bobby' last='Zedak'] and 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2347770' first='Will' last='Shapiro'] continue to guarantee a high level of execution for head coach Chris Lun as they look to get back to the state title game and avenge last year's loss.

Blake routs Kennedy

The Bengals came out and immediately put a stranglehold on the game and would go onto win by a final score of 76-44. The senior laden roster led by 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2148722' first='Tahj' last='Martin'] is why this team should be viewed as the biggest contender to hoist the Class 4A state title next week at UMBC. Alongside Martin is guys such as 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2252282' first='Eli' last='Konkler'], 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2746662' first='Christian' last='Kennard'], 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2252255' first='Armani' last='Fowlkes'] and Abder Ouattara, all of which balance out the rest of the lineup with athleticism, quickness and size. Up next, Blake will host either Seneca Valley or Eleanor Roosevelt once the tie-breaker for 6/7 is settled.

Eleanor Roosevelt escapes at Blair

The Raiders went into a hostile Blair environment and came out with a 56-51 win to capture a regional title and keep their season alive. The senior duo of Dekare Tyler and [player_tooltip player_id='2643860' first='Donte' last='Whitaker'] continue to lead the way as Tyler finished with a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists while Whitaker scored eight, hauled in 12 boards and dished out three dimes as well.

Dulaney handles Perry Hall

The Lions have been dominant in Baltimore County play all season long, so they entered this one as heavy favorites over the Gators. The final score would indicate as such as Dulaney advances to the state quarters in the 75-49 win. The senior trio of Drew Ranck, Chase Huber and Jayden Corley-Pugh provided their typical production and punch to never leave a doubt. The victory brings head coach James Dickey his first regional title since taking over the program.

Seneca Valley beats Governor Thomas Johnson at home

The Screamin' Eagles were the third visiting team to advance in 4A state tournament play on Wednesday evening as they claimed their regional title at Gov. Thomas Johnson 66-61. The trio of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2981643' first='Ian' last='Bullie'], 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2894117' first='Malachi' last='Delaware'] and 2027 Charles Simmons Jr. has been the formula for head coach Brandyn Wilkerson this season and that theme remained last night. As mentioned above, going off the MPSSAA site, it indicates that Seneca Valley and Eleanor Roosevelt are tied and will be decided who is the 6/7 seed for quarterfinal matchups.

Broadneck shocks Bowie

The Bruins took the trip down to Bowie and walked away with a 42-38 nail biter in the 4A East Region II final. Senior guard Kamari Williams led in scoring with 12 points while 2028 Liam Sambo chipped in with 11 and provided valuable efforts on the defensive side of the floor. With the reseeding system taking place, it appears that Broadneck will take on the task in the form of the No. 1 ranked Flowers in state quarterfinal play.
