About Malachi
Expert Analysis
William Lloyd III | Prep Hoops Scout
Malachi stood out to me as a skilled combo guard that can make plays off the bounce or from spotting up along the perimeter. He has enough speed to get downhill quickly and combine his strength and touch to finish at the basket. Liked the way Malachi shot the ball at a high clip from beyond the arc through Seneca Valley’s MPSSAA run. Malachi made timely reads when the defense collapsed, creating for others before relocating efficiently and drilling the spot up triple. When the offense stalled, he stepped up by attacking the defense and drawing fouls. His ability to score at all levels and respond in key moments made him an interesting prospect to watch in the upcoming senior class.

Delaware took significant strides this season for the Screamin’ Eagles and not only led them in scoring, but also a regional title with a win over Governor Thomas Johnson before coming up short in the state quarterfinals against Meade. The 5-foot-11 combo guard caught eyes with his efficiency all over the floor, but particularly with the way he found his groove from beyond the arc. In the postseason games, Delaware averaged over 22 points per game and cashed in on 50 percent of his attempts from three on respectable volume. He’s effective in exposing driving lanes with quick jab-and-go’s and if he doesn’t have a clear look at the rim, he’ll kick it out and quickly relocate with a good base. Certainly some indicators that Delaware is primed for a big spring/summer before taking the reigns as the bell cow for Seneca Valley next season.

Malach Delaware is a 5-foot-10 prospect in the Class of 2027. Whether running the team or playing without the ball, he found ways to make an impact. Delaware is a quality creator, both for himself and others, who mixes it up effectively as a scorer from all levels. He’s a reliable perimeter shooter but arguably at his best when he gets downhill and finishes at the basket. Delaware is a smart decision-maker and willing passer-by who plays with terrific effort. Malachi is a very solid guard who knows how to pick his spots. Understands how to pick apart the defense with his pace when attacking. Does a great job of getting to the midrange area. Knocks down jumpers well as a shooting threat. Willing on-ball defender. Knows how to make his presence felt on the defensive end. Complete floor general. Malachi led the Screaming Eagles in scoring averaging 10 points a game in the Capitol Hoops Summer League.
