King is the epitome of a three-level scorer, and he showcased that ability Tuesday night against Maple Grove. He has a strong frame that allows him to attack the rim through contact and finish, along with a reliable jumper from both inside and beyond the arc. King also displayed a high motor on the defensive end, staying in front of his man, applying consistent pressure, and chasing down fast breaks for highlight-reel blocks.

King dominated in this matchup, being easily the best player on the floor. He was impossible to stop from getting downhill, finishing through contact with either hand at full speed. He was getting his teammates involved, showing off his vision with some impressive passes for assists. He could score from the perimeter as well, being a true three-level threat, knocking down looks off the catch and off the dribble.

King was one of the names I was most familiar with heading into the event, as I had seen him put together some strong performances playing against older competition with D1 Minnesota 14u in the summer. He didn’t disappoint, as he was just about unstoppable in the 3v3 matchups, and continued that run of play into the 5v5 games. He has a nice feel for the game, and just knows how to get an edge on his defender and keep him pinned to his hip as he gets to the rim to finish. Already has a strong frame that allows him to finish through contact at a high level. Made a handful of varsity appearances last winter for Hopkins, and will look to break into a more consistent role as a freshman.
