Trey was easily the most impressive rising senior that I watched in June. The two attributes of his that stood out to me were his scoring ability and stamina. He made one open 3 to start the game, which opened the floodgates. Then, contested jumpers started to fall from the mid-range and beyond-the-arc. Finally, he seemed to get to the basket whenever he wanted, because his entire game had opened up. This all goes without me mentioning that it was his 4th game of the day. Most players seemed fatigued, but not Oldenburg. Trey was still able to play most of the game with little rest and went all-out the entire time he was on the court. I could absolutely see him being a Division 2 All-State nominee this upcoming high school season for Jefferson.

It has been a bit since I've given some recognition to a #MakeShots guy. Naturally, Quincy has improved his jumper over the past few months to where defenses see him as a threat from the perimeter. This has really opened up his game as he is unselfish on offense, has the quickness to get into the paint, and as a bonus, is left-handed. Each time I write, I love including at least one player to excel at communicating on the floor. For this article, it's Quincy. After hearing him yell out defensive cues for an entire game, I can say he does a great job of leading the Saxons' defense. I'm anticipating a big season for the Hastings junior guard.

Tyler is another player I was unfamiliar with coming into team camps. I officiated one of his games at SVSU and it was clear, he will be the main guy teams will be focusing on when they face Sparta this season. Standing at 6'4, Pangborn can set decent screens and finish with touch around the rim. Judging by his demeanor on the court, however, he is not an undersized big. I would classify the rising senior as a wing. Tyler can hit perimeter jumpers and is comfortable handling the ball as well as making passes. He even hit the game-winning FT in OT in what I would call an upset against Bay City John Glenn. It will be interesting to see how new Sparta coach Lindsey Hunter utilizes Tyler this winter.

After watching him play for the first time at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase last summer, I have been a fan of O'Mara. He's a tremendous athlete, and I love the way he approaches the game, embracing competition. Not only did he play varsity for Grand Blanc this past season as a freshman, he is currently playing up with 2027s for [program_tooltip program_id='2075759' first='Oakland' last='Elite']. On the court, Max doesn't do a lot of talking, he just plays super hard and seemingly always makes an impact on both ends. On defense, he can step out on smaller guards and battle in the paint. While defending bigs, he has a unique ability to use his strength to bump and his length to wall, all without fouling. On offense, he's a solid finisher and 3-point shooter for his class, but I am more intrigued by his free-throw line jumper that he seems to shoot more than most players, probably because it actually goes in consistently. Alongside a solid young core, Max will play a key role in the success of Grand Blanc this upcoming prep season.

Trevin is another player I saw for the first time last summer, I do remember his defense and speed standing out. After seeing him again a few weeks ago, he clearly has improved his game on the offensive end. He was the main ball handler for Hastings and was getting to the rim at-will. It didn't, however, feel like he was pressing or was ever out of control. Russell has a much better handle, is incredibly strong for his grade and height, and has no problem going right or left off-the-bounce. His strength allowed him to finish a few layups through contact. There were a few players that told me he was the toughest kid to keep in front of on defense all-summer. I think the Saxons have found their point guard for the next 3 years.
