This one seems pretty obvious. The frontrunner for Mr. Basketball is a pretty easy choice for a player to watch. This could be a fun matchup too as Torbert tests his elite athleticism and skills against a tough and physical DeWitt squad. It should be fun to see him try to get out in the open floor.

Torbert sparked his team to a state championship last season and is probably the front runner for the 2026 Mr. Basketball. Torbert is an electric offensive player that can hit big jumpers as well as finish above the rim in the open floor. The Bowling Green commit is more than talented enough to put back to back champs on his hoops resume.

It makes sense to start off with the Prep Hoops #1 ranked player in the class of 2026. Torbert convinced me while leading his East Lansing team to a state title last year. He’s just electric on the offensive end. When Torbert’s team needs a bucket, he can and will go get one. He plays a fast paced game and is a menace in the open floor.

Torbert has shown that he truly loves the game of basketball and wants to show who’s the best. What better way to send a message to the rest of the state than to come and try to dominate the biggest exposure camp in Michigan? Torbert is an electric athlete that can play the game at a unique speed.

Let’s be real – that RSO team was loaded with elite and top notch talent at the GRBA National Championships. We could grab anyone off that team, but we’re going to go with Torbert. Why? Because he might just be the best player in Michigan regardless of class. The young man is at a different level and it felt like he could go get a bucket whenever he wanted one.

This one is pretty obvious. We all saw East Lansing’s run to the state championship. And a lot of us have seen what he did this spring. There’s a reason that he’s a favorite to win the next Mr. Basketball in Michigan. Torbert can go off on the biggest of stages, making tough plays look easy.

Torbert’s ability to get to the rim was extremely impressive to watch. He is such a fast and quick guard who beats everyone to the rim in transition. He elevates extremely high and has great body control in the air. His touch around the rim is very impressive to watch. He puts pressure on the rim and makes the defense collapse. He had multiple and-1 finishes or drew fouls. He was not being stopped from getting to the rim. The defenders struggled to stay in front of him all game.

Torbert sent a message loud and clear this season, but in the Final 4 in particular. Torbert is just different. He’s supremely athletic and has that take over ability. All the early Mr. Basketball talk seems to center around him at the moment.

Torbert was a player to be reckoned with offensively. He averaged 17.5 points per game in the 2 contests. But don’t forget about the defensive end where he averaged 2 steals per game.

Torbert has officially announced himself as a frontrunner for next season’s Mr. Basketball. He was that good and that impressive in the Final 4 win. Torbert finished with 19 points and 6 boards. It seemed like whenever his team needed a bucket, he was able to free himself and get a look. Torbert played incredibly efficient basketball, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from behind the arc and not turning the ball over a single time in 32 minutes of play.
