I love when I watch a game and barely notice that a player had a huge scoring night. Why? Because that means that they didn’t have to be ball dominant or shot heavy to get theirs. That was Grays last night. He had what seemed like a very efficient 22 points. The Mr. Basketball worthy guard obviously knows the good shot / bad shot difference and it serves him and his team very well.

We mentioned Mr. Basketball earlier in the article. Well, Grays is another player putting his name high on the list of considerations. He had a game high 21 points in an impressive win against a tough Concord squad. Grays is easily 1 of the top all around scorers in the state. He has a frame and game that screams next level.

Grays Jr. made his return in successful fashion. He heated up at 1 point against Rockford. When Grays starts feeling his game, really opponents just have to mitigate the damage because not much can be done. Grays looks stronger physically which is a dangerous thought for future defenders.

After seeing Grays go to work this summer, I really want to see him light up the gym in Grand Rapids. I think he’s taken his game to that next level and he can show it off at The Expo. Grays was just playing at a different speed during grassroots ball.

Grays Jr. was absolutely lights out. He was getting buckets attacking the rim off the bounce with a fast first step and a strong straight line drive. Grays utilized a smooth and fast release on his jumper to put up points from beyond the arc. He has put himself on the map, beyond Michigan as well.

There wasn’t a more talented player in the gym this weekend at The Final Chapter. Grays had that different energy. It really felt like he could find a look at the rim at any time. Grays release was smooth and the ball snapped through the net. I liked the way he kept finding space and repositioning on the perimeter, Off the ball work created opportunities.

The Brother Rice guard went off in June. Word is that he shot the leather off the ball over the weekend. To the tune of 35 3’s in 6 games at the Midwest Live? That’s just jaw dropping. His great play has led to solid offers. If Grays continues on this path, a seat at the Mr. Basketball table might be in store.

Grays Jr. is a dynamic talent with an elite game. College coaches at all levels need to be very aware of this young man. He’s was aa wizard with the ball and scored 30 points in a win against Ecorse. Grays Jr. showed a plethora of dribble combos that could create space for his jumper and allow him to attack the rim. He utilized a smooth scoop finish at the rim and flaunted a pretty step back jumper.

Farmington picked up a nice holiday season win against Avondale. Grays topped the 20 point mark and he did it in style. He showed off a tough mid range game where he could create space and nail a contested jumper. Grays also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor, move his defender, and score at the rim.
