Grand Blanc and Muskegon squared off for a prime time matchup of 2 powerhouse programs. The game didn’t disappoint. Grand Blanc earned the 51-48 victory and O’Mara was definitely a star. He finished with a team high 12 points, but his game was more than just buckets. O’Mara was a constant factor in the lane.

O’Mara was really solid against Lansing Waverly. He was a steady influence down low on the defensive end, doing a good job stepping over for help. O’Mara was more than willing to be active on the defensive glass as well. It seemed like he was incredibly efficient on offense, not forcing looks and trusting that his guards would get him the ball.

Here’s my Max O’Mara plug of the week! I’m positive that he’d have a lot of scout and coaches eyes on his game at the Sophomore ID Camp. O’Mara is a versatile forward that can play a 4 with a wing jumper and ball skills or wing with a 4’s power.

O’Mara and I seem to have linked schedules over the last month. He was impressive once again. O’Mara, even at a talented event like this, so often has a size and strength advantage over opposing wings. Then you combine that with watching him bury jumpers and you realize what a mismatch he really is.

O’Mara just continues to improve and impress. He once again showed his versatility. He could lock himself down low easily in high school ball, but his jumper and passing on the perimeter are way too good for that. O’Mara probably translates to a wing at the next level. He has very good feet and is a smart shooter.

After watching him play for the first time at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase last summer, I have been a fan of O’Mara. He’s a tremendous athlete, and I love the way he approaches the game, embracing competition. Not only did he play varsity for Grand Blanc this past season as a freshman, he is currently playing up with 2027s for Oakland Elite . On the court, Max doesn’t do a lot of talking, he just plays super hard and seemingly always makes an impact on both ends. On defense, he can step out on smaller guards and battle in the paint. While defending bigs, he has a unique ability to use his strength to bump and his length to wall, all without fouling. On offense, he’s a solid finisher and 3-point shooter for his class, but I am more intrigued by his free-throw line jumper that he seems to shoot more than most players, probably because it actually goes in consistently. Alongside a solid young core, Max will play a key role in the success of Grand Blanc this upcoming prep season.

O’Mara has the chance to be a special player in the class of 2028. When you see his size, strength and grade, you might think post player. But that’s not really the case. I mean it can be, because he can work inside and get buckets and defend. But O’Mara can face the rim, shoot from the perimeter and work outside-in. Versatility serves him very nicely.

Sky is the limit for Max O’Mara. He’s already a very versatile forward that can play and defend on the perimeter or the paint. I see a lot of years of matchup difficulties for opponents. I really like his commitment to the defensive end of the floor. O’Mara will stay active on D and has shown good defensive anticipation.
