Grand Rapids Storm 16u has been a fun team to watch this spring. They won the Bill Hensley Memorial Run N Slam title and turned in an excellent weekend at UAA Session II as well. Bascom, a versatile 6’4″ left-handed wing, was a standout when we watched on Friday. He scored a team-high 14 points in a win over a good Progeny team. Bascom can score it in a variety of ways showing off good catch-and-shoot skills and the ability to attack closeouts off of the bounce.

The Storm were one of the most impressive teams at this year’s Rumble in the Rapids; finishing 4-0 in their pool. And Josh is one of the driving forces for this team’s success.
For a kid of his age, already standing 6’2″, Josh already has tremendous body control-showing off elite footwork and having patience for the right lanes to open up.
In a win over PGU Elite, Josh scored ten points in the first half. And didn’t need to score much in the second half, as he spent most of the final 16 minutes distributing to teammates.
He’s part of a smart and crafty Storm team that goes 10 players deep, so you won’t often have a lot of statistical standouts. But Josh’s abilities are evident in the way he handles the game when the ball is in his hands.

plays on one of the most outstanding teams in Michigan’s 16U circuit, so he’s never forced to play a ton of minutes. But he manages to make the most of his time on the floor.
Josh is a natural ball-handler, with a knack for taking it from the wing to the rim when necessary… or passing up a contested shot when he has an opportunity to give the ball to an open teammate.
He never seems to get flustered, even in the face of defensive pressure. He’s a smart player, who makes crafty moves on a fast break. In limited minutes, he still dropped 12 points against PGU Elite.
He’s part of a very defensive-minded Storm team that only gave up 11 points in the first half of their win over PGU Elite; in a game that was ended a few minutes early.

for 3 more years. He’s a willing passer and a high IQ defender. Bascom can attack offensively with both power and underrated athleticism. He’s easily 1 of the most talented forwards in the class of 2028.
