Rockford came out on top of Mona Shores by a score of 76-57. Any number of Rockford players could be here in this article, as a lot of them had impressive stat lines. We went with Wolfe and his 19 points. Mainly because he had a really nice little scoring run that really seemed to seal the result.

You’ve got to love this kids game. He plays with a confidence and a moxie that just can’t be taught. To watch a sophomore, in a game that features 2 of the best rosters in the state, to throw haymakers back and forth from beyond the arc – it’s a thing of beauty. Let’s not forget that he can also handle and attack against the best defenders statewide.

I can talk about his game and elite skill set for days. Everyone has and will continue to do that. But I’m thankful for way more than that. I’m thankful that I get to cover a star level player that’s simply a great young man as well. Wolfe is humble, polite and well spoken. College coaches will be recruiting Eli for the person he is, along with his game.

After seeing him start at point guard in the regional final for Rockford back in March against Flint Carman-Ainsworth and again more recently in Grand Rapids, the biggest compliment I can give is that he looked the same in both. Results aside, his calm demeanor was the same in the high-school playoffs as it was in a meaningless AAU game. This speaks to the work he puts in year-round, a trust in the process. He might be the best passing guard in his class, values each possession, and plays with extreme confidence. When the 2028 rankings come out, Wolfe will likely find himself near the top and for good reason.

is an elite guard talent with uncappable upside. It’s rare to find a freshman floor general that can create, distribute and score – all at such a high level. The best part may be the young man that comes with the skills. Wolfe is a positive gym presence and a great representation of a program.

Anyone in the mood for some fine dining? Wolfe’s game is like a 5 star, 5 course meal. He does everything, from handle to pass to create offense, at such a high level. Maybe the most impressive thing about Wolfe though is his basketball IQ and his court demeanor. They both scream success.

I had the pleasure of watching Wolfe play a few weeks after receiving an offer to play for Ferris State. For most incoming freshmen, an accomplishment that big before even playing in a single regular season HS basketball game might negatively impact a player, not Wolfe. After talking to him, I can definitively say that he has a deep understanding of the game and carries himself like an upperclassman. On the court, Eli plays egoless, team basketball. It was fun to watch him facilitate on offense and do little things like playing off of two-feet in the paint to score over bigger defenders. Oh, and he also trains with Andy Secor and #MakeShots too, so go figure he can shoot from the perimeter. I am looking forward to seeing where he ends up in the upcoming 2028 rankings update as well as watching him play with Rockford this season.

Wolfe is one of the top freshman in the state and it’s really not even up for debate. He backed that statement at the Freshman Showcase. Wolfe is a positive vocal leader that makes good decisions with the ball. He’s a multi level scorer that I saw bury catch and shoot 3’s, a deep pull up 3 and am across the lane floater with touch. Wolfe was a 2 way impact player as he was seen deflecting passes, picking up steals and talking on D.

I really feel like Wolfe has the ability and potential to be a national recruiting target. He features a very high basketball IQ. Wolfe plays with his head on a swivel and is already capable of running a highly efficient offense. He has a jumper with deep range and explosive, yet efficient, handles.
