Cannon was letting the game come to him on Day 1, but day 2 is winning day and he was much more aggressive. Cannon attacked the rim off the bounce and finished and drew fouls. He was just more comfortable playing at a faster pace than most and he used that to his advantage. Cannon attacked and scored in traffic and through contact. There were times when he simply beat the defense and made them flip their hips.

Cannon showed out on Saturday in a win against Iter-City Baptist. He led the way with 22 attacking downhill points. Cannon also made himself a factor on the glass grabbing 6 rebounds in the game. Grand Blanc is an especially dangerous team when Cannon gets going like this.

Cannon looked like the Cannon that I saw all summer last night playing against Waverly at Summit Academy. He looked to get downhill and attack the rim. Cannon found a path going left wing to his right and down the lane. Cannon finished at the rim and drew and played through contact.

Cannon is a talented guard that I actually had the chance to coach against. It sure was tough to keep him from getting downhill. Which is tough because when he gets a couple steps and goes north-south, he can really make plays with the ball.

This film clip shows that Cannon can be a threat to score in a variety of ways. It shows his blow by speed on a right handed dribble drive, but it also shows that he can attacl with his left hand. Cannon shows that he can finish at the rim in traffic and through a defender. I like the way that he attacks as a rim runner without the ball with speed and aggression.

Cannon was one of the most impressive players in the gym. He had people talking from the start of The Expo. Cannon was at his best when getting downhill. This was very evident when he used a ball fake and take to get an bucket at the rim. Cannon created shots with his ability to smoothly change direction with the ball in his hands. He wasn’t just a scorer though, as I saw him step in front of a ballhandler and take a charge.

I was so impressed with his play AND his on court demeanor. Cannon let his game do his talking throughout grassroots season. He was at his best when he attacked the rim downhill. Cannon forced defenders to pick him up early and try to stop his straight line momentum.

Cannon continues to have a terrific grassroots season. Coaches have to be really wary of him, especially when the speed of the game picks up. Cannon gets down the floor in a hurry and can make a play with the ball before the defense even gets set.

Cannon had a super impressive spring with Shoebox Elite and he’s looking to continue that impressive play at The Final Chapter. He’s a versatile guard that can make plays with the ball in his hands. Cannon can also play off the ball, where he works hard and stays active forcing defensive rotations.
