About Roman
Expert Analysis
Andrew Baxley | Prep Hoops Scout
Ruggerio is another Eastside Eagle who makes this list after a great shooting performance in Greenville. He made a real push for Game MVP, putting up 21 points on 5-8 3FG. Roman is one of the best perimeter weapons in South Carolina’s 2028 Class, and he’s more than capable of hitting shots in transition, off designed actions, and from deep range. He also showed some intriguing things on the defensive end of the floor, guarding Easley’s 6’5″ star player for several possessions. If this is the type of play that Eagles will get from Ruggiero and Dugger, they will surprise some people in region play and into the postseason.

If Campbell was the most impressive player yesterday, the Eastside Eagles would get the award for the most dominant team. They won their two games by a combined 97 points, meaning younger guys like Ruggiero could get some extended run. Even though Roman is a starter, he played his best minutes with the rest of the Eagles’ second unit and put up 10 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals on 2-4 3FG in the second half of Game Two. Ruggiero is a pure shooter, capable of catching and shooting at an efficient rate or pump faking and pulling up in the mid-range.
