Borne is continuing to improve his athleticism off one or two feet, effectively throwing down transition dunks once out on a breakaway. His wiry frame allows him to compete against both backcourt positions, all while leveraging his vertical pop to contest taller opponents. This previous season displayed his growth playmaking with the ball, taking greater advantage of help defense for passing lanes. Borne remains one of the most intriguing names in this class, bringing in the quick instincts and athleticism only a handful of names in this state possess.
Highlights
Davis is a sturdy defender who holds his own at the point of attack. His active hands and low center of gravity allow the guard to defend a wide range of opponents. Especially mobile, the guard is constantly on the prowl to pick away steals in the backcourt. Already in the top-10 of the whole state for steals per game, Davis is a real deal on that end. Offensively, he continues to leverage his quickness and strength for drives around the rim, often from cuts or while attacking the closeout.
Wells showed shotmaking prowess throughout the 6A playoffs, bringing a dependable shot off the catch. Alongside his complementary scoring, Wells brought a gritty style of play with his game. Active going after rebounds on either end, he had no fear getting into the thick of it versus bigger opponents. Within the playoffs, Wells showed greater comfort handling the ball versus pressure, capable of attacking downhill versus an out of control opponent.
Wright continues to display his streamlined game, continuing to grow into his 6’4 frame. Another lanky guard boasting a wide reach, he gets downhill with ease off the rip. Defensively, he has made strides as both a point of attack and help side defender. Adding strength since last year, he continues to show he can take bumps while retaining position. He continues to show value as a high motor two-way prospect, certainly worth keeping tabs on throughout June.
Highlights
A productive shotmaker behind the arc, Ward remains a proactive guard on both ends of the floor. Possessing a wiry strong frame with a wide reach to compete on the defensive end. He works hard to take away space early at the point of attack, hounding opponents regardless of the matchup. From distance, Ward remains a dependable shooter off the catch, certainly a high floor athlete.
Highlights
Michael brings plenty of intrigue given his dependable impact for 5A Northfield’s final four run. Bringing in a particularly strong frame, they did well guarding multiple positions and competing on the glass. Particularly active without the ball, Michael looks to find opportunities on cuts, effective finishing through contact when necessary. His continued growth along the perimeter will be worth following, although the wing brings in plenty of defensive production out of the gates.
