Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Davis was one of the bright spots for Pueblo Central this year as the 6’2 forward was a paint beast. He moved defenders down on the block, finished with his back to the basket, and also had a face-up game that gave defenders issues. Davis averaged 15 points and 9.3 rebounds a game; he had multiple double-doubles, and despite teams trying to send doubles, his consistency shone through. Davis is a big man who I feel would benefit from other solid guard play around him, but had to step up and be the team’s scorer, and that’s why I think his game translates to the next level. He has a great motor, he’s relentless on the boards, and is a versatile defender. He’s a player who jumped on our radars this year and finished off his senior year strong.

Pueblo Central will lean on Davis to lead the way inside in the first round. Averaging 15 points and 9.3 rebounds with nine double doubles this season, he’s been a matchup nightmare on both ends of the floor. Capable of erupting for huge games he dropped a season high 32. Davis can dominate the paint, set the tone defensively, has a smooth jumpers and spark fast break opportunities. His physicality and skill force opponents to adjust, creating space for teammates. When he’s rolling, Davis not only controls the boards but can completely swing momentum in Pueblo Central’s favor

Davis is a stand out due to his relentless defensive pressure and ability to turn defense into offense. He thrives on disrupting opposing guards, using quick hands and anticipation to generate steals and spark transition opportunities. Once he’s out in the open floor, his speed and control make him nearly impossible to stop, where he runs the lanes hard and finishes with confidence. His quickness not only fuels fast break scoring but also allows him to attack gaps and create easy points for himself and his teammates. Davis’s high motor, defensive instincts and ability to impact the game in transition make him a major factor and a name steadily climbing in the rankings

Davis is a sturdy defender who holds his own at the point of attack. His active hands and low center of gravity allow the guard to defend a wide range of opponents. Especially mobile, the guard is constantly on the prowl to pick away steals in the backcourt. Already in the top-10 of the whole state for steals per game, Davis is a real deal on that end. Offensively, he continues to leverage his quickness and strength for drives around the rim, often from cuts or while attacking the closeout.

One of the stronger guards in this class, Davis is a malleable defender against both backcourt positions. Effective taking bumps at the point of attack, he is not easily outmuscled by opposing guards. On the opposite end, Davis holds his own while attacking the rim, dependable with either hand in traffic.

Davis has turned up his play as the Wildcats continue to look impressive in these playoffs. Davis has been a real scoring threat and has also been chipping in on the boards as well. In the last game against the Pirates he was able to grab 7 total rebounds and 4 of those came on the offensive side. Davis gets most of his scoring done inside the arc, being aggressive and getting himself to the line where he can knock it down from the charity stripe. On the defensive side of the ball the Wildcats can press you and Davis plays up on the press being able to use his length to cause turnovers. Davis should be able to speed the tempo up some but I think this will be a defensive half-court game and he should be able to get some open looks.
