Before it’s all said and done, Austin could go down as one of the best pure scorers in KY basketball history, but his game doesn’t stop there. Although he missed about half of his sophomore campaign, he made an immediate impact on all facets of the game for Montgomery County. His work continues to show on the national stage with Brad Beal Elite of Nike’s EYBL circuit where he averages over 14 PPG. He received his first collegiate offer during his freshman campaign, and his stock continues to rise, now holding 10 D1 offers and counting. He’s the #13 ranked PG in the country per ESPN.

. The 6’1″ guard from Montgomery County High School shot 40.0% from three-point range on nearly four attempts per game at EYBL Session III. We saw him go 3-3 from deep and score 20 points in a win over Meanstreets on Sunday. Sears is absolutely one of the best shooters in the state of Kentucky and has had a great spring for Brad Beal Elite 16u.

Another player who is known for his shooting ability from the guard position, Sears had to wait to get eligible this past season but burst on the scene for Montgomery County after he finally got to play. Averaging 20 points per game on shooting splits of 49/42/85, Austin has established himself as an elite scorer in this class and already added several D1 offers during his time at North Oldham before the transfer to MoCo.

Austin’s name has been circling national conversations for quite some time and rightfully so. The sophomore guard is one of the best shot makers in the state with an ever evolving understanding of the game. Whether it’s creating for himself or making plays for others, something good usually happens when the ball is in Austin’s hands. Most recently he’s showcased some budding athleticism and an ability to rebound that should demand more attention from high profile programs.

had one of the best shooting nights of the tournament in the quarterfinals, leading his team with 22 points. Most of his damage came from deep, as he went 6-of-8 from three and 8-of-11 overall from the field, including a two-handed slam in transition. He also added five assists and three rebounds, all in just 18 minutes of play. Taking advantage of Bracken County turnovers, Sears ran the floor effectively, spaced the floor well, and scored two fast-break buckets, including the dunk at the rim.

ranks among the top 10 in the state in three-pointers per game, averaging 3.6. In just eight games played, he’s 29-for-68 from deep, shooting an efficient 42.6%. Sears is a high-level shooter with range from anywhere beyond the arc. He looks confident on every release and plays smart with the ball in his hands. Strong in catch-and-shoot situations and effective moving without the ball, he’s not only one of the best shooters in his class, but one of the top perimeter threats in the state overall.

Sears is a big time shooter who is in range as soon as he enters the gym. The next step in Austin’s game will be showing if he can facilitate as well for others as he can create his own shot. I expect Sears to show some growth this season and continue improving as a defender as well.

Known for his ability to shoot the ball at a high level, Sears has recently added several D1 offers. A hard worker who has “in the gym” range and the confidence to shoot the ball from anywhere, Austin is likely the best high volume shooter in the class at this early stage in his career. Primarily a shooting guard right now, I look forward to seeing Sears playing primarily as a point guard and seeing how well he can defend his position. Ultimately, that will determine his college level.

A big time shooter, Sears is essentially a bigger version of 2025 UT-Martin signee Ty Price. Austin thrives in catch and shoot situations and is continuing to improve at attacking the rim and playmaking. Starting to fill out and add some bulk to his frame, Sears already holds some early D1 offers and projects to be one of the best players to come through Oldham County, ever.

One of the most skilled guards in Kentucky, Sears offensive skill level and basketball IQ shines in every game I watch of his. Moving smart without the ball, making the right pass and shooting a high percentage, Sears does things that elite offensive point guards do. He’s also starting to grow into his body with Sears standing at least one to two inches taller than he was in December when I last saw him in person. Next step for Sears will be adding strength to his shoulders to handle physicality and contact up and down the court. One aspect that’s already impressive about his game but could get taken to the next level with added strength is Sear’s finishing, he puts tremendous spin on layups at the rim.
