Trey tore his ACL this past winter and is making progress in his rehab in hopes to be ready for his Junior season. Prior to his injury, Hillerich was in the discussion for best player in the class and perhaps the best big in the class.

Hillerich’s Sophomore season came to an early end after an ACL tear but before that point, Trey was starting to establish himself as a top big man in Louisville. Able to stretch out past the three point line, Trey has big time potential if he comes back healthy and adds bulk to his frame.

Trey continues to improve and has one of the highest prospect ceilings in the entire state. Hillerich is an advanced shot blocker and has a high skill level on the offensive end. Capable of stretching out past the three point line, the big man has the potential to be an elite level recruit thanks to his rare combination of size and skill.

Trey is the most improved prospect in the 2028 class in Kentucky over the last year, in my opinion. He’s an elite shot blocker whose offensive game continues to improve. As his frame fills out more and more, Hillerich is going to be a serious problem for 7th region foes.

One of the biggest stock risers in the last year or so in the state, Hillerich would be the top player in most Kentucky classes. Big and starting to fill out, Trey is an excellent shot blocker and is comfortable playing inside or out. He’s also still growing and could be a face up or stretch 5 when the dust settles on his growth and development. With his skill level, Hillerich could be the ultimate difference maker in the 7th region title race this year.

At this camp a year ago, Trey was still going through his awkward stage and wasn’t the most coordinated big guy in the event. On Saturday, Hillerich went through some dominant stretches and was one of the best players at camp. He had a few folks in the gym tossing around term like “Power 5” and “high major”. Certainly a good day for Trey.

The strides that Trey has made over the past year has been really impressive. As Hillerich has stopped growing, his coordination and athleticism has really improved. Trey has a crazy wingspan and used it to finish through traffic all day long. Male should be right in the mix to win the 7th region.

This 6’9″ center really impressed us on Sunday with his fluid mobility at his height and young age. Hillerich is able to rebound his area at a high level, was excellent as an outlet passer, and blocked several shots at the rim. He finished with 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 blocked shots to help lead Indiana Elite 15u to a 76-65 win over BABC 15u. College coaches will certainly want to follow this young big man out of the state of Kentucky as he progresses over the next few years.
