Expert Analysis

Often times the youngest player on the court, Johnson plays with poise well beyond his years. He consistently showcases incredible patience and footwork in the post while also being capable of knocking down shots in the midrange. His advanced abilities have allowed him to carve a significant role on a very good Male squad for which he’s account for 8.9 PPG and 4 RPG. Johnson has seen an uptick in his usage since Male lost 2028 big man

A bruiser who continues to expand his game out to the three point line, Johnson is in line for a much bigger role now that Sophomore

is out for the season with a torn ACL. Johnson is a driver and a post up threat. He’s only attempted one three this season and shoots less than 50% at the free throw line. As his game develops, Jaden will need to continue improving the perimeter parts of his game but he has excellent physical tools and plays hard, too.

A new name for myself, Friday was my first chance to watch Jackson play. It’s always impressive when a freshman cracks the rotation of one of the top teams in the state and Jackson has proven himself to be a valuable player on a team filled with talent. With an excellent frame for his age, Jackson wasn’t afraid to get physical against older bigs and finished efficiently in the paint. Able to go up with either hand, defenses can’t force Jackson one direction on the ball. Jackson’s calmness with the ball in his hands also stood out, not looking rushed when deciding whether to pass or shoot. Jackson is a name we’ll be mentioning a lot throughout his high school career.

Johnson is one of the more physically developed and strongest kids in this class, right now. Jaden is capable of playing around the bucket or stepping out and putting the ball on the floor. I’d like to see him improve as a shooter but what I’ve seen so far looks like he can keep a defense honest. If he continues developing wing skills and/or growing, Jaden is one of the potential top players in the class, long term.

Only a freshman, Johnson has a big body and advanced skill set. He reminds me of former Fern Creek star Clint Wickliffe. Like Wickliffe, Johnson is capable of bullying opposing defenders but also has the finesse to his game to finish with high skill level around the rim. I didn’t see Jaden shoot many jumpers so that part of his game is a little unknown but he’s a top freshman in the state and it’s easy to see why.

I have not personally seen Jaden play YET but Coach Haworth at Male loves him and that’s good enough for me for right now.

Johnson has a big body and is able to compete physically more than his age would lead you to believe. Jaden saw the varsity floor a little last year but should be in the rotation for a lot of minutes as a freshman. Coach Haworth is very high on Johnson’s potential and he should be a name to watch in the 7th region the next 4 years.
