After breaking down some rising point guard prospects, it’s time to continue my “Bluegrass State Standouts” series with an in-depth look at some of the top shooting guards in the state. Without any further ado, here’s my list of the top 2024 shooting guards in Kentucky to watch out for this upcoming season.
Highlights
At the top of my list of standouts is Trent Noah Trent Noah 6'7" | SF Harlan County | 2024 State #139 Nation KY , a 6-foot-7 shooting guard at Harlan County High School. Noah made a huge difference on the court for the Black Bears during his junior stint of high school basketball last season. In 31 contests, Noah, who also plays for Midwest 3SSB (OH), led Harlan County in both scoring and rebounding, picking up 821 points and 396 rebounds last year. Noah averaged 26.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Noah additionally shot 52.3% (294-562) from the field, 37.5% (66-176) from beyond the arc and 83.1% (167-201) from the free throw line. Noah also helped lead Harlan County to a 23-7 overall record and a 6-0 mark in district play. In addition to impressive size and speed, what makes Noah such a threat on the court is his ball control, passing, ability to hit shots from around the perimeter and his disruptiveness in the paint.

Coming in at second place on my list is Jay Rose Jay Rose 6'4" | SG Madison Southern | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Madison Southern High School. Rose was a highly explosive weapon for the Eagles during his junior stint of high school basketball. In 33 games, Rose, who also contributes to Griffin Elite UA Rise, led Madison Southern in scoring and rebounding, recording 697 points and 256 rebounds. Rose averaged 21.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Rose additionally shot 51.6% (252-488) from the field, 32.4% (48-148) from the three-point line and 82.4% (145-176) from the free throw line. The rising senior out of Berea, KY. helped lead Madison Southern to a 19-14 overall record and a 2-2 finish in district play. On top of solid size, speed and versatility on both sides of the floor, Rose contributes overwhelming explosiveness that allowed for him to leave his mark on the court last year.
At number three on the list is Christian Doerr Christian Doerr 6'3" | SG Evangel Christian | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-3 shooting guard at Evangel Christian High School. Doerr was one of the most efficient players on the Eagles’ roster during his junior season of high school basketball last year. In 34 contests, Doerr, who also competes for Griffin Elite UA Rise, was the top scorer on the team, picking up a grand total of 628 points and 133 rebounds. Last year, Doerr averaged 18.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The rising senior out of Louisville, KY. additionally shot 49.6% (250-504) from the field, 32.9% (54-164) from beyond the arc and 70.5% (74-105) from the free throw line. Doerr helped lead Evangel Christian to a 30-4 overall record and a 6-0 mark in district play. In addition to impressive size and speed, Doerr exhibits solid composure, excellent ball-handling and a commanding offensive effort that left many foes stunned last season.

At the number four spot on the list is Camden Cox Camden Cox 6'3" | SG Spencer County | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-3 shooting guard out of Spencer County High School. Cox was one of the more versatile and explosive players on the Bears’ roster during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. In 29 games, Cox, who also plays for Midwest Basketball Club Adidas Gold (OH), was the second-best scoring machine on the team. Last year, Cox picked up 399 points and 147 rebounds, averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Cox additionally shot 44.7% (142-318) from field goal range, 39.4% (89-226) from beyond the arc and 78.8% (26-33) from the free throw line. The rising senior out of Taylorsville, KY. helped lead the Bears to a 21-8 overall record and a 3-2 finish in district play. In addition to excellent size and speed, Cox adds solid shooting from range, excellent physicality underneath the basket and a strong rebounding effort.
Coming in at number five on my list is Brayden Mirus Brayden Mirus 6'1" | PG Rowan County | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-0 shooting guard out of Lexington Christian Academy. Mirus made his presence known on the court during his junior season with the Eagles. In 33 contests last year, Mirus, who also competes for Kentucky Future Elite 2024, picked up a total of 221 points and 79 rebounds. The rising senior out of Lexington, KY. averaged 6.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Mirus additionally shot 48.4% (78-161) from the field, 34.8% (24-69) from the three-point line and 65.1% (41-63) from the free throw line. Mirus helped lead Lexington Christian to a 19-11 overall record and a 5-5 mark in district play. On top of impressive size and speed, what makes Mirus so talented on the court is his overall quickness with the ball in his hands and his ability to consistently contribute offensively both on the perimeter and underneath the basket.
