What School Will Be 2026-27 3A State Champs?

We continue to look ahead at the upcoming winter season, this time turning our attention to the potential top teams in the 3A. Obviously, Rainier Beach will return as the de-facto favorites to repeat as champs. They have one of the most talented rosters top to bottom while showcasing some of the best chemistry and team defense in the state.

However, you can't overlook the Lincoln Abes. They return two of the top juniors in the state, have a solid group of sophomores and juniors to fill in the gaps, and have two point guards in Myjeer Rigney Myjeer Rigney 6'0" | PG Tacoma Lincoln | 2028 State WA and Oshea Lamar Oshea Lamar 5'8" | PG Lincoln (Tacoma) | 2027 State WA who can space the floor, create off the bounce, and create turnovers on the ball.

Seattle Prep and Central Valley are interesting dark horses, both led by outstanding seniors and a supporting cast that continues to get better. Bellarmine is another not so dark horse contender that is right up there with Rainier Beach in terms of chemistry and team defense. Senior guards Ronnie Wiggins Ronnie Wiggins 6'2" | CG Bellarmine Prep | 2027 State WA and Kade Price Kade Price 6'0" | PG Bellarmine Prep | 2027 State WA lead the way while junior forward Luke Heisel Luke Heisel 6'6" | SF Bellarmine Prep | 2028 State WA should average double digit rebounds to go along with a handful of stocks per game. They also have some younger guards ready to step up and make an impact and replace some depth that graduated this June.

Mt. Spokane is an interesting team with a bevy of talent coming down the line, but they are made up of a ton of juniors who may need another year to reach that pinnacle. They have the size, quickness, and shooting to match up with a lot of teams and will be a fun team to watch from the East Side.

Eastside Catholic is another team that will be heavily reliant on a strong junior class to lead the way. Tytan McNeal Tytan McNeal 6'6" | SF Eastside Catholic | 2028 State WA and Steven Sun Steven Sun 6'2" | CG/SG Eastside Catholic | 2028 State WA have big game experience that comes into play in March, and were vital contributors to the Crusaders deep run last season. They'll definitely be a factor in the Metro League and beyond in the 2026-27 season.
