Getting out and competing in a showcase setting can reveal which parts of a prospect's game translate regardless of teammates, role or style of play. This group showed qualities that can work in different settings, and that is what being at a showcase is all about. These players can add another layer but were certainly intriguing.

Kurth is a player we saw this summer, and while he looked different, it was great to see that he could switch it up if he has to. Kurth played the point guard position and had a couple of unselfish moments that popped for me. Instead of treating every touch as an opportunity to score, he pushed the pace and generated some transition baskets. He handled the ball as a facilitator and consistently played with his eyes up. Kurth spotted cutters, found the open man, and made the extra pass when the defense shifted instead of just going after his own, and I liked that. Becoming more of a scoring threat himself would make that playmaking even more dangerous but I'm sure he recognizes that and will know how to approach the next showcase. Solid day.

Jasper had a productive day but an under-the-radar kind of day as well. He wasn't forcing action, and that could allow a player to not be written about in a showcase setting, but when watching his game, I did like that he had some smart reads on where to be, he worked hard, and he was a complementary piece. A couple of his baskets came simply from understanding where to be as he was cleaning up plays when the defense lost track of him. He knocked down a 3-pointer when I looked over, he competed on the glass, and showed some comfort pushing the ball after rebounds as well. Jasper was also solid during the 3-on-3 portion of the day, where there is less room to hide if you don't understand spacing. He has some useful complementary pieces already. Continuing to expand what he can create with the ball would give him another level, but he's a new name for me to follow.

Hasselbach is an intriguing player for me, for sure, because when it all comes together, he's going to be a scary player that the state is going to have a problem with. The physical tools that he has make him a long-term prospect with a high ceiling, and that was on display at the showcase of course. He's strong, moves well, and players tend to get out of his way when he attacks the basket. He's a two-way prospect as well. He had a couple of dunks where defenders didn't dare go up with him. When his handle is together, and the shot is consistent that's when he's going to be his most dangerous, and a showcase is a time to show the work that he's made with that. So for him, at the next showcase — shoot it, play guard, and show that there's more to the game! He's a player I am high on, and this was another setting he got to come out and prove himself.

Scholl might be the definition of a plug-and-play prospect. He understands how to find holes in the defense, gets himself into the right spots, and seems comfortable doing whatever a lineup needs from him, and we got to see that at the showcase as well as in our last tournament. At this event, Scholl rebounded, screened, popped into space, and competed defensively with a strong frame that made him difficult to score through. There is a good feel behind his versatility, and he doesn't need too many touches, but is effective when he has the ball. His game translates because you can put him alongside anybody, and I feel that you'll get the same kind of player, which is rare. Adding more individual creation and having those moments he just wants to take over as a scorer as well would make an already useful player even more intriguing.

Jaramillo is a player who came out and made his mark. He seems to understand when he had a physical advantage and wasn't afraid to call attention to it. When a mismatch presented itself, he used his strong frame to overpower the defender and get himself into scoring position. He had some on the block plays where he called for the ball, and I want to see more of that. There were also glimpses of him working within screen-and-roll actions, either rolling into the open spot on the floor or popping and shooting it. He hit a few jumpers, stepped out, and hit the 3-ball, but he certainly is an inside presence. We liked what we saw from him at the showcase and he's a player to follow.

Tsai is a player we feel familiar with now as we saw him play a couple of times this summer, and each time we come away impressed with how he picks and chooses when he wants to attack. At the event, he got it done as a downhill attacker who tries to get into the teeth of the defense. He's a solid finisher around the bases, runs the baseline, and had a couple of reverse finishes when we saw him. He gets defenders on his hip and tries to finish through contact. Tsai could overpower certain matchups and had enough burst to create advantages against others. I actually wanted him to be more aggressive because when he decided to take his man, it generally worked. He's a name to watch, and this was an event where he showed what he had.

Getting out and competing in a showcase setting can reveal which parts of a prospect's game translate regardless of teammates, role or style of play. This group showed qualities that can work in different settings, and that is what being at a showcase is all about. These players can add another layer but were certainly intriguing.
