This massive event always features the best of the best from the state of Kentucky as well as top programs from Indiana and Ohio. We had boots on the ground at Lexington Catholic High School on Sunday to watch the three participating Indiana programs, Austin, Ben Davis, and Silver Creek, compete against some of the best teams in Kentucky. Here are some of the individual standouts from what we saw on Sunday.

Sunday offered our first opportunity to see this 6'3" left-handed guard play and we came away very impressed. Some of the college coaches in attendance were taking note as well. Akins is an excellent three-point shooter, but also possesses the positional size and strength to make plays off of the dribble. His playmaking ability allows him to play either guard spot as well. Look for this George Rogers Clark rising junior to really start rising as a prospect.

We got to see Gay for the first time recently as he was a top performer for the Kentucky Junior All-Stars against the Indiana Junior All-Stars. It was good to see him play again on Sunday with his George Rogers Clark team. The 6'6" checks all of the boxes right away in terms of athletic and physical tools. He is excellent in transition and really hard to stop when he gets downhill to the rim. Gay also knocked in a couple of catch-and-shoot corner three-point shots in the game we watched.

It is hard to put into words just how advanced some of Grivna's skills are for a young big man. You simply don't see rising sophomores that are nearly 7-feet tall have the coordination, footwork, and hands that he possesses. He finished a couple of strong post moves against Ben Davis on Sunday, blocked a ton of shots, and did a great job on the class. Not only is he Kentucky's top Class of 2029 prospect, but he projects to be one of the top prospects nationally.

Johnson looked the part while playing against some of the best guards from Indiana. The 6'2" playmaker made some tough shots from the perimeter off of the dribble and had success getting downhill to the rim. He is an excellent ball handler with a scoring mentality. George Rogers Clark is loaded with talent once again and Johnson is one to watch in their backcourt.

The creativeness and versatility of McLaughlin's interior scoring ability was on full display at the KABC Shootout on Sunday. The 6'4"-6'5" strong, left-handed wing/forward was a dominant force in the paint. He scored via the rim run, on the roll, at the end of drives going in both directions, and via little post moves over his right shoulder. McLaughlin can finish above the rim and has the strength to really bully smaller matchups. Look for small college programs to pursue him heavily in the coming months.

Good things happen when Mitchell has the ball in his hands. The 6'4" guard is an elite playmaker both as a scorer and as a facilitator to his teammates. He has some quickness when getting downhill, good body control at the end of his drives, and excellent vision that he uses to consistently make the right play. Mitchell is coming off of an excellent spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] and looked good on Sunday with his Louisville Male teammates.

Austin turned in one of the performances of the summer on Sunday scoring over 100 points and making what had to have been over 15 three-point shots as a team against Christian Academy of Louisville. Roush, a known sharpshooter, was part of the shooting barrage. He displayed a quick release and the ability to make some tough shots when tightly contested. HIs shooting ability also opens up the opportunity to attack closeouts for a layup or intermediate range floater.

We first saw Scheich play at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman showcase two years ago when he was an incoming freshman at Borden High School. Now, the 6'8" rising junior is a standout forward/center for Christian Academy of Louisville. The tools and traits he showed a couple of years ago have really started to pan out now. He was explosive out of the dunker's spot, showcased the ability to stretch the floor making a three-pointer on the wing, and rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor. Very intriguing prospect that continues to improve.
