One of the more intriguing players I watched over the weekend was Brody McLaughlin Brody McLaughlin 6'4" | SF Silver Creek | 2027 State IN of Silver Creek HS. Running with Team Tradition, he continues to impress me with his skills around the rim even though he is a smaller forward in the low post. He is a smooth type of hybrid-forward that can be an x-factor of a player at times. This could be the big breakout AAU season for him from what he showed this past weekend.

While it may seem unfair to put a guy that plays a big part for a team that is a favorite to win a state championship on here, it seems like the best is yet to come for junior wing Brody McLaughlin Brody McLaughlin 6'4" | SF Silver Creek | 2027 State IN . He is only averaging around 4.5 points per game, but his impact for the Silver Creek Dragons is much bigger than the amount of points he contributes. McLaughlin is a versatile mismatch of a player on both ends of the floor and often times is Silver Creek’s best rebounder. He is a guy to watch in February and beyond.

The Silver Creek Dragons have had a pretty busy last 4 days traveling to Bedford for a 30 point win followed by the two games at the Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle. While the Silver Creek’s star players did their thing, a couple of under-the-radar guys had nice showing also with one of them certainly being junior forward Brody McLaughlin Brody McLaughlin 6'4" | SF Silver Creek | 2027 State IN . He is a real versatile mismatch of both ends of the floor with his true length, solid athleticism, and just willingness to make the little play happen in a big way. What really impressed me in the game I watched of his was his consistent play around the basket as a rebounder and scorer.

McLaughlin is a gadget man who has a great deal of versatility with his game. You can plug and play him in different spots and he just stuffs the stat sheet. His length allow him slither his way to different places on the floor. He made several trips to the foul line. McLaughlin also showed he can get others involved with his passing and has a nice pulse of the game. He had good timing going up to alter shots. McLaughlin has an assertive motor and plays the same way if his team is up 20 or down 20. He oozes with potential and looking forward to tracking his progress long-term.

There is obviously no shortage of talent on the Silver Creek roster right now. The Dragons will enter the season as one of the favorites in Class 3A and a potential Top 5-10 team regardless of class in the state. Headlined by three Division I caliber prospects, Silver Creek also features several other noteworthy players that deserve recognition. McLaughlin is one of those role players who had a great summer. The 6’4″ wing has impressive size and strength on the perimeter while also being a real catch-and-shoot threat. His smooth left-handed stroke was a consistent weapon for a very successful Indiana Elite Team Indiana squad throughout the spring and summer. They will suit up one more time this coming weekend at the GRBA National Championship.

There is so much talent going through the program at Silver Creek High School right now. This 6’4″ wing has carved out a starting role for the Dragons this summer after averaging 6.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore. What has stood out the most, and is a big reason for him jumping into our Class of 2027 Prospect Rankings at #78, are the developments he has made as a shooter from beyond the arc. McLaughlin is a much more willing and able catch-and-shoot threat now which is starting to take his game to another level. He is sharing the floor with plenty of good players at all times, but McLaughlin should be poised for a very good junior season.

Yet another talented young prospect coming up through Silver Creek High School, McLaughlin caught our attention in a close game on Saturday for Indiana Elite Team Indiana 16u. The 6’4″ left-handed wing knocked down a couple of smooth catch-and-shoot three-point attempts and appeared comfortable attacking closeouts to his left hand in a straight line as well. His combination of size and perimeter skill makes him one to watch in the coming years.
