The 7-foot-rising junior continues to progress quickly as he spent last season playing limited minutes behind Sinan Huan (Purdue), but it seems like the speed, physicality and the confidence in his own ability are trending in the right direction. The production speaks for itself as he will be the anchor that Georgetown Prep will need in order to protect last year's IAC title. Aguek finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, 10 blocks(!!) and three steals in the win over Mt. Zion Prep.

This was my first time seeing Argueta since he made the move to to St. Andrew's from St. John's (DC) and it looks like the decision will pay dividends. It's clearly his show to run as the floor general and he did a great job of engineering his team to a win over McDonogh to start their DMV Live 2 showing. He did an excellent job of taking what the defense gave him. When he was pressured, he kept his man off-balance with change-of-speed attack before using his exceptional burst to create advantages and exploit driving lanes. If the shot clock was winding down, he created space fairly easily to get a clean shot off from three or the mid-range. Throughout, he got his guys in their spots and wasn't selfish on passing up a good shot for himself to generate a great shot for others. Arguably the most impressive aspect of his performance was his willingness to play amongst the trees for rebounds. Argueta finished with a packed stat line of 14PTS, 10 REBS and 7ASTS.

Despite a game where Westtown was in complete control from start-to-finish, Stanfield was the engine for Calvert Hall as he put on a workmanlike double-double effort of 25 points and 10 rebounds. One thing with Stanfield that you don't have to question is the motor and competitiveness that he brings to the floor at both ends. While he isn't a supreme athlete, he simply bring multiple efforts to the glass both offensively and defensively that impacts the game. He's more of a four than he is a three at this moment, but the long-term brings some intrigue as a nice connective piece to a college roster.

Fresh off a nice showing at Nike Top 100 Camp, Avery looked the part that many college coaches in attendance were hoping for. The athletic 6-foot-8 forward had his hands all over the game in their victory over Takoma Academy. There's no questioning the potential that Avery poses as he has one of the higher ceilings in the region regardless of class, but putting more outings like he did here with 27PTS (9-of-12 FG) and 13REBS will convince more programs that the potential is now legitimate production.

It was a battle of the bigs when PGCA faced off against Mt. Carmel. Abraham went up against 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2454529' first='Junior' last='Mancho'] in a dual between two of the more physical bigs who love to operate on the low block. S1 was a mixed bag of sorts for Abraham as he adjusts to his new team, but this performance looked like he's starting to settle in not only knowing when he'll get his touches within the flow of the offense, but also forcing his presence and production by dominating the offensive glass. He helped PGCA remain perfect throught DMV Live S1 & S2 play thus far in this win over Mt. Carmel behind 20PTS & 12REBS (7 of which were of the offensive variety).

Dixon had himself a day as he continues to prove himself as one of the top combo guards in the DMV regardless of class. He's always had the fluid movement whether he was on or off the ball, but the processing and split-second decision making is surfacing with regularity, which is taking his overall game to new heights. He's seeing the floor more fully on drives and gradually becoming a guy who makes everyone around him better. Not to mention the high-level scoring package he brings as a multi-level threat.

In two wins over Potomac and CATS Academy respectively, Dixon averaged a loaded stat line of 25PPG, 7RPG, 5.5APG and 2.5SPG.

I've been watching Hunter for years now and still have yet to see a defender keep him out of the paint consistently. Today was no different as the 6-foot-3 combo guard debuted for his new team in Highland, who has a chance to be a force not only in the DMV, but on the east coast and beyond if this group stays together. Not only was he frequenting the rim getting downhill, but he was also taking advantage of open shots from three, which has been arguably the most progressing aspect of his game.

Hunter was a force in his minutes off the bench as he finished with 21PTS, 5REBS and 3ASTS in just 20MIN.

Walked away really pleased with the floor game progression from Martinez. There isn't a designated point guard on this ACF team, but Martinez has stepping in and filled the role with great competency. He's all of 6-foot-5 with a strong frame and lower body in particular to help his maintain leverage in a variety of circumstances. He was extremely effective in the mid-post where he exploited mismatches backing smaller guards into the paint or just deep enough to get to his fadeaway jumper that he converted with ease. He controlled tempo, made plays for others and did his diligence on the glass as he led his team to a win over Clinton Grace behind 20PTS, 5REBS & 5ASTS.

DMV Live 2 got underway today at noon as we're in for another weekend full of action at DeMatha Catholic. As usual, I'll break down the games and prospects from several perspectives and considering all of the tremendous shooting performances that took place. After zooming in on the top shooters from Friday, I move on to some of the better overall performances I witnessed.
