Friday's action provided another opportunity to evaluate many of the state's top independent school prospects, and several of them reinforced why they continue to be among the most highly regarded players in their respective classes. Reiser was in a new jersey this weekend, coming over to Northside Christian after playing his freshman year at Providence Christian. The Crusaders have an intriguing roster, but Rex could be a guy who helps them click on multiple levels. I know how gifted a passer he is after watching him with [program_tooltip program_id='2231960' first='Big' last='Shots SC'] this spring, but it was his shooting that caught my eye most on Friday. John Paul II was short-handed on day one, but Daniel was still able to piece together a solid performance despite a loss to Laurence Manning. You never have to question what he will bring defensively, because he fights to contain the ball on the perimeter and is an excellent charge drawer. Offensively, he had to take and make tough shots often, plus he showed a good feel for drawing contact and getting to the free-throw line. In their first game, the opponents showed Isaiah multiple bodies every time he got into the paint, and he did a good job of reading the help defense and finding the open teammate. He can hit tough shots off the dribble at multiple levels, particularly because of his strong frame and effectiveness in playing off two feet. Once he realized his perimeter shots weren't falling, he adjusted well and began attacking the basket and getting out in transition. Henderson can finish around the trees at the rim or over them with runners and floaters, but it's the threat of his shooting that consistently creates open lanes for him to drive. He also has a good feel for making the extra pass on the perimeter and dumping off to his bigs. William should be in for a big senior season with the Hurricanes, and he was a bright spot for them in a loss to Heathwood Hall, racking up 8 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals. He is an explosive guard who likes to create off the dribble. Whether that's getting to the rim or his spots in the mid-range or crafting up a look for a teammate, Rose does a great job of using his quickness to beat his initial defender. Jackson looks faster, stronger, and taller than the last time I saw him, plus he has a unique passing feel for a player of his age.
