Who were the Top 2028 Performers I saw from Illinois this past weekend at the Windy City War? Here were a few of the best!

[player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] (Brad Beal Elite)

Pettigrew was in his backyard playing for BBE. He had a couple of big games and capped off the weekend in style with an eastbay dunk in the closing minutes. The top prospect in the 2028 class showed a pretty complete offensive repertoire over the weekend. The jumper was flowing with turnaround jumpers, deep threes, pull ups from beyond the arc, and created his own shot in the mid-range. Explosive slasher who hits another gear blowing past his opponent for scores in the paint. Finished with either hand along with an array of dunks especially in transition. Solid passer and really competed at a high level on the defensive end throughout the weekend. No doubt high-major guy.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467517' first='Darrius' last='Hawkins'] (Brad Beal Elite)

Hawkins elevated his stock over the weekend with three big time performances! High level point guard from Homewood Flossmoor that did it both scoring and passing at Romeoville. His ability to breakdown a defense consistently putting pressure on them was evident. Electric passer making on the money reads over an over again in both the half court and transition game. Nifty finisher around the hoop who also threw down a big dunk. His shot making was as good as we have seen it draining pull up and step back threes on a regular basis. Absolutely filthy shooting performance from three as the HF standout was unguardable at times!

[player_tooltip player_id='2531961' first='Amarion' last='Smith-Holley'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'])

Smith-Holley is among the premier 2028 prospects in the state. He has all the tools to be an impact high-major lead guard at the next level. The Richwoods star first jumps off the floor at you with his off the charts athleticism. It's a level you do not see out of lead guards. He shows it off with his speed in the open floor, playing above the rim, change of direction on a dime, and using it defensively. Big time burst with the rock off the bounce getting to the cup and his vertical bounce is insane! Plus shooter that is especially effective with his pull up game from beyond the arc pouring in pull up triples one after another. He is a silky smooth shot creator who creates space with ease. His passing continues to improve each time we see him as he showed at Windy City War throwing passes on the money with feel and zip in both the half court as well as open floor. Brings the intensity on the defensive end as well getting steals and blocking shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531970' first='Ben' last='Ojala'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'])

The Evanston combo guard is one of the most lethal three point shooters in the 2028 class. High level shot maker from three off the catch, movement, and pulling up. Plus shooter with a clean release and feathery touch. Mid-range pull up shots. Explosive and smooth ball handler that is so slick to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2751060' first='Brady' last='Jones'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'])

Jones was awesome on Sunday morning for the Fire. This Metamora small forward presents strength and skill on the perimeter. Plus shooter from three off the catch pouring a trio of them from deep. He was also effective getting in the mid-range. Flashes to the middle off the paint for short jumpers. Boxes out on rebounds and walls up defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2381426' first='Trent' last='Williams'] (Sharks Basketball)

Williams showed flashes during the season at OPRF, but had his breakout moment over the weekend at Plainfield. On Saturday he dropped 43 points in a game. Rangy guard did it in a multitude of ways knocking down threes off the catch at a high rate, pushing off his defense for scores in transition, getting two feet in the paint for scores through traffic. Lengthy guard is also a solid passer and above average defender at the point guard position. Followed up his outing on Sunday with two more strong performances.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436293' first='Cole' last='Christian'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] LVL)

Christian is a skilled four man from Lane Tech that has some helium heading into the summer. Good athlete that runs the floor for points, rebounds well in his area, and has a very quick second jump to the offensive glass. The skill is there as well. Name to track!

[player_tooltip player_id='2877501' first='Malik' last='Horton'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] LVL)

Horton dropped 23 points against [program_tooltip program_id='2075314' first='Big' last='3 Basketball'] on Saturday. The explosive compact lead guard consistently took it to the rack and had the three ball dropping as well. He has all the tools along with his brother to be the next standout backcourt at Curie.

[player_tooltip player_id='3415797' first='Jayde' last='Wyett'] (D1 Illinois Jets)

Wyett emerged on Friday night as the Providence Catholic 6'3” small forward is a lefty wing with considerable upside and a projectable frame. Clean looking shot off the catch, got to the mid-range, and mixed in floaters. Plus athlete that runs the floor for dunks. Finished with either hand around the rim. He had 16 points in the game we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='2819777' first='Ethan' last='Lee'] (M14 Gold)

Lee had a big outing against [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] carrying his squad with 21 points. The Sandburg 5'11” point guard shot it well from three pouring in five of them. More than just a shooter he had several tough takes to the rack and dished it off in the paint.
