MPSSAA Class 3A Rundown: Regional Championships

<p>Well, we're here. The sprint of the high school season has begun as the public school state tournament is in full swing. Last night, regional title games took place all around the state to help set the stage for the quarterfinal round. We start our rundown with a loaded Class 4A bracket and results of each game below.</p>   <p>For the <strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/2026/03/mpssaa-class-4a-rundown-regional-championships/">Class 4A rundown, click here.</a></strong></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">City 68 Poly 49</h2>   <p>In a meeting between one of the more historic rivals in Baltimore, City upended Poly at Coppin State University to claim another regional title and advance to the state quarterfinal round where they, Marriotts Ridge and Great Mills will make up the top three seeds. How that order is determined, due to a tie, is by a coin flip. Yes, a coin flip. Anyways, 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2722710' first='Camari' last='Stewart'] led the attack with 17 points last night as three other Knights in 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2935812' first='Noah' last='Cowan'], 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='3275517' first='Jayden' last='Hargrove'] and 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2951999' first='RJ' last='Muhammad'] all reached double figures with 10 points.</p>   <p>*City will host Mount Hebron in the quarterfinal round.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Marriotts Ridge 42 New Town 41</h2>   <p>It came down to a pair of 2028 Izzy Adekoya free throws to decide the regional champ in this matchup as the sophomore stepped up to the line and buried both attempts to lift his team to a win. The free throws accounted for two of his five points, which ended up being the reason the Mustangs' season is being extended to quarterfinal play. Senior duo made up of Josh Okon and [player_tooltip player_id='3340943' first='Sam' last='Tatarov'] each scored 13 in the low scoring affair. 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='3421297' first='Blake' last='Willingham'] contributed nine in the effort.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Overlea 69 Milford Mill 68</h2>   <p>Another one-point decision was made in Baltimore County as the Falcons protected their homecourt as 2028 Ken Ani's floater was the bucket Overlea needed to put them on top as the buzzer sounded. Ani pitched in with 15 points while 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2479009' first='Justin' last='Swanson'] led the way with 16 for the game. 2026 Korrie Foster followed with 14 as the senior guard look to lead Overlea into their state quarterfinal contest against a tough Magruder team.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Magruder 57 Damascus 46</h2>   <p>The Colonels improved their overall record to 22-2 overall with the regional title win over Damascus last night. The backcourt duo of 2026 Jonah Wertlieb and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2889335' first='Zeke' last='Dabbondanza'] continue to make up the engine and will continue to fuel their postseason hopes after a nearly flawless season thus far.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">South River 65 Old Mill 53</h2>   <p>Northwestern football commit [player_tooltip player_id='2343207' first='Jaden' last='McDuffie'] has long been one of the top overall athletes in the Maryland Public School sector for years now as he pursues a state title in basketball before setting off football in the Big Ten. He was the leading scorer for Seahawks with 21 points, but it was the shooting of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2575608' first='Jamie' last='Finn'] that set an early tone and provided valuable floor spacing for guys like McDuffie to further expose. Finn scored 20 points and teed off from beyond the arc early and often. This offset a standout performance out of 2026 Old Mill guard George Simms, who poured in a game-high 28.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Great Mills 66 Largo 55</h2>   <p>In what could be tabbed as the biggest upset, Great Mills took down the reigning back-to-back Class 3A champs in Largo. It took a total team effort from standouts such as 2026 Cam Brooks, 2027 Chris Willingham, 2027 Josh Brooks and 2027 Kamari Shannon as the Hornets continue their special 2025-26 season heading into the quarterfinal round with an impressive 22-3 record. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mount Hebron 64 Sherwood 42</h2>   <p>Mount Hebron made a statement against a Sherwood team that looked dominant in the second-round win over Oakland Mills. 2026 Chase Wiley posed as a true mismatch in this game and helped spike a 21-0 run in the second quarter. That momentum carried over into the third period to gain further control of this game and secure the regional title. Wiley accounted for a game-high 17, 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2927438' first='Noel' last='Igwe'] scored 14 and 2026 Trevor Smith was good for 13 points.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Frederick 80 North Hagerstown 57</h2>   <p>Frederick can be categorized as this bracket's Cinderella team considering their 9-14 record coming into this game last night. Now 10-14 heading into quarterfinal play, head coach Emote Hill is no stranger to the big stage that the state tournament offers as this win counts for their fourth-straight regional crown. The trio of 2026 AJ Spencer, 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1782597' first='Osborne' last='Ehana'] and 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2731742' first='Mookie' last='Taylor'] will continue to be leaned on for production at both ends as they take on Marriotts Ridge in the quarterfinal round. </p>
