Finn really impressed me early on in this one and will be making a high-academic DIII program happy in the near future. The 6-foot-3 combo guard possesses good positional size and sets his table with long-range shooting prowess. He can use the gravity he demands from the outside to his benefit with a quick, long first step to gain the edge on driving opportunities and did an nice job in this one welcoming contact on his finishes. Finn was good for four triples en route to 16 points and three rebounds in the win.

Jamie was a tough shot-maker this game and played fast in transition and kep the defense active. He made an early steal and scored, setting an aggressive tone. He also hit a deep three from the top of the arc, stretching the floor as he consistently does for South River. Jamie attacked off the bounce and finished through traffic with a strong dribble drive that ended in an and-one through two defenders. He lived at the free throw line throughout the game because of how aggressive he was at getting into the paint. What stood out most was how Finn would leverage his shooting to open up his driving lanes. Punished lazy closeouts and consistently drew defensive attention all game long.

South River made the trip up I-95 from Maryland and Finn made the most of the opportunity, earning recognition as a standout in both of his games with an impressively well-rounded skillset in the backcourt. With a polished catch-and-shoot stroke, Finn shook free for a big handful of clean attempts from the perimeter, showcasing what looks to be the core of his projected role at the next level. He showed though that he’s far from a one-trick pony, putting the ball on the deck smoothly as both a primary and secondary ballhandler with some verve to his finishing and playmaking ability for others. Sitting at the top of his class academically with a smoothly translatable game, Finn should be made a priority for high-academic D3 programs if he isn’t already.

Jamie came right out the gates ready to perform for the Shooters. Shot the ball with incredible range all game long, earning the respect of the defense far beyond the 3pt line. Jamie rebounded the ball well as a guard on the floor which created a lot of fastbreak opportunities. Moved well without the ball and made layups off cuts a few times during the game vs Adapt Academy. Jamie did well keeping his head up and finding different teammates open around the perimeter. Made the extra passes, keeping the ball popping offensively.

17p 4s vs North County
-Finn’s jumper took a quarter and a half to heat up but he proved his value as a 3+D guard that can be successful without having plays run for him in the halfcourt. His ability to play in the gaps defensively and see cutters out of his peripherals allows him to be in the right spot to snag several steals that break up opponents’ scoring runs. Loved the grit to sneak into the midpost to grab his own miss on a 3 point jumper, kick to a teammate, and relocated to drill a 3 that cut the NC lead to 8 after the Seahawks trailed by 17+ for most of the 1H. Want to see him put on a bit more upper body weight and mix in drives to the paint or even to a 1 or 2-dribble pull-up to make the defense pay for chasing him off the 3 point line.

-Finn is a scrappy utility guard that can hit shots but works hard to chase down 50/50 balls and make the extra pass to teammates. Handle is developing nicely but he serves as a good connector within the Seahawks’ offense, timing backdoor cuts and hitting rollers with a touch base or pitching it to the opposite side of the floor to one of his shooters. Had a strong summer league at DeMatha and looks to carry that momentum forward with a South River team determined to defend their first AA County Championship

-Good mover off the ball, plays hard, can hit shots, gets to the basket, competes at both ends. Handles ball pressure pretty well but needs to keep his head up while handling in traffic to see passing options. Served as a good connector for his team, moving to space then delivering a touch pass to an open teammate before the defense could rotate. Was a pretty fearless driver to the rack offensively and threw his body around defensively to get to loose balls and fight around screens.
