The debut of the 2029 rankings offers an early look at South Carolina's next generation, starting with the point guards. Though still freshmen, this group has already shown promising feel, playmaking ability, and leadership with the ball in their hands. It's the first step in a long journey, but these guards are beginning to establish themselves as names to know across the state.

PG1 in South Carolina's Freshman Class is [player_tooltip player_id='2970405' first='R'Javion' last='Booker']. Booker combined consistent production and high-level flashes from day one this season, averaging 9.8 points per game and 2.0 assists per game on 58% shooting from the field for Legacy Early College. R'Javion has a knack for controlling the game with the ball in his hands and never feels sped up or rushed on the offensive end of the floor - something that is very rare for young Lead Guards.

Kai is arguably the best shooter of this group. He combines high-volume shot-making with an excellent feel for playmaking. Lowery also leads like a true Point Guard should - with both his play and his voice. When you watch him play against other freshmen, Kai is clearly one of the best on the floor. However, when you watch him against older and more experienced players, he looks just as comfortable running an offense. Look out for him to have a big Spring with [program_tooltip program_id='3565368' first='Twelve' last='Time'].

Checking in right behind his region-mate, Lowery, is Cureton. From both a team standpoint and an individual standpoint, AJ had as productive a season as you can hope for from a freshman. His 12.7 points per game, 3.2 assists per game, and 1.9 steals per game helped Nation Ford win Region 3-5A and advance to the Elite 8 of 5A Division 2. Cureton is as creative as they come on the offensive end, both as a creator and a finisher, which help him account for a lack of size.

Greene is another player in this list who is already experienced running the offense for his High School. The Knights quietly had an excellent season in Class 3A, with their freshman PG being a huge reason why. So far, Deux is one of the more impactful guards on the defensive end of the floor, but he is also more than capable of facilitating in the pick-and-roll, finishing around the trees, or pulling up off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='3041765' first='Desmond' last='Grant'] might not have had the minutes that some of the other 2029s had, but he was behind some of the best guards in school history and learned plenty in the Redhawks State-Championship winning season. Desmond is a knockdown perimeter shooter and makes good decisions when on the ball. He's still learning how to play the point, but he's in great hands and has all the room for growth in the world.

Despite not having glaring numbers, Kass had a defined role for the 3A State Champions this year.
The second Legacy Early College Lion on this list is Garvin. Shuford saw his role steadily increase over the course of his first year. He showed signs of being a strong three-point shooter, including a three made three game and a four made three game. However, there were also good things to see from Garvin as playmaker, which could mean he has a more developed all-around game as he gets older.

Jackson didn't have a ton of usage as a Point Guard this year for the Mavericks, but he did get plenty of minutes to show what he is capable of throughout the year.
