We have updated our rankings for the junior class on the site (found here), with 280 prospects and 38 new players in Washington DC and Maryland added into our system to reflect the impact that they have had on their team during this high school season. We had a ton of movement in this update to cover, especially in our top 10, with a new #1 and several new faces joining the elite group of DMV juniors as we gear up for AAU season. Let's dive into that updated top 10!

-Lyons parlayed a strong close to the season into claiming the top spot in our 2027 rankings as we put a bow on the high school season and turn our sights towards AAU. Lyons piloted his team to the title game of the MDPSSBT after winning an MPSC title despite starting off the conference season in the middle of the pack. Lyons showed his capabilities as a dynamic point guard that can put pressure on the rim, knock down perimeter jumpers, and distribute the basketball to a slew of offensive weapons. If he can continue to prove his value as a 2-way point guard that impacts winning, his profile will rise on a national level during the spring and summer in new threads on the EYBL Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'].

-Our scouts loved the strides that Woodard made at the defensive end of the floor down the home stretch of the high school season and extending into the MDPSSBT as an impact W/F tweener. A dynamic athlete that has also improved his ball skills over the course of the season, Woodard has proven capable of buying into his role to get easy buckets at the rim by playing through contact, hitting the glass, and earning trips to the free throw line to round out his impact. If the motor can consistently run hot at both ends of the floor to take full advantage of his athletic gifts, he should step into a big role with Durant this offseason and an even bigger role on a Mustangs group that graduates several key long-term contributors.

-Green was a model of consistency over the course of the season, turning in double-double performances as a rangy W/F with a throwback offensive game most effective 18' and in from the basket. Green can post up at the elbow or pivot his way to the paint to score high percentage short jumpers or convert his positioning into trips to the free throw line that cut into opposing front court depth by getting his matchups and their backups into foul trouble. Mt Zion National relied on his ability to produce at a consistently-high level at the offensive end while making strides as a help-side defender that—over the course of the season—improved his defensive rotations to contest or block shots around the basket at a much higher level. With the fluidity of his movement as a prospect that now stands at 6'9, he has nice long-term upside to development into a valuable switchable forward prospect that can show/switch onto guards on the perimeter to defend on an island without fouling.

-Our staff was early in believing in the Cadets' leading guard, moving him into our top 10 at the start of the season as we anticipated a breakout season and were not disappointed. The only junior named to the WCAC 1st Team after an overtime duel with PVI in the championship game, Veney made strides as a leader at both ends of the floor for SJC that took full advantage of the opportunity in front of him with several key pieces graduating from the Cadets' backcourt. Veney scored at a high level to carry his team in several marquee matchups with national teams and improved as an on-ball defender that used his positional size to guard several spots within SJC's halfcourt schemes. His ability to create space for himself in the halfcourt off the bounce will likely be his next big area of improvement after a season of operating against opponents' best perimeter defenders. But he seems up for the task and should build on his momentum on the AAU circuit this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078457' first='Team' last='Durant'], as Maryland joined the growing list of scholarship offers for the junior guard.

-Condon was an inside-out monster that took some serious strides as a leader, communicator, and defender for the Quakers this season as his team dealt with a slew of different injuries to key pieces. Condon proved himself as a great pick n pop wing, improved his lateral movement skills and foot speed to defend at a higher level in side ball screen actions, and built his sprinting endurance to run at a breakneck pace throughout expanded minutes for the Quakers to become a dynamic force at both ends for his team. It will be interesting to track his development this summer as he continues to grow physically to match his emotional maturity as a dependable double-double performer that continues to expand his skillset with a work ethic and passion for the game that continues to prove to be elite.

-Fisk started the season outside of our top 50 and broke into our top 10 this week with some prolific scoring performances in big games for the Panthers this season. The dynamic scoring guard led his team to a BCL Championship and a title game appearance in MIAA play with consistent two-way performances as one of the lead guards for his team. Fisk's speed, vertical leaping ability, and tenacity in the open court made him a menace for a SFA group that punched a lot of its opponents in the mouth in their run through BCL/MIAA competition. Fisk became a more consistent shooter from both the midrange and beyond the arc, made better decisions with the basketball as a creator in side ball screens and middle PnR, and ratcheted up the defensive ball pressure to turn opponents over. The toughness shown to sprint back in transition to come up with deflections, steals, blocks, and forced misses even when faced with 3 on 1 breaks made him a super valuable piece for Coach Myles throughout the course of the season.

-Jones filled it up in bunches throughout the year, often re-entering games with a splash by knocking down perimeter jumpers and turning opponents over before they crossed over halfcourt to stack stops and buckets to build leads or cut into deficits. Love his change of speed when attacking opponents in the halfcourt to get downhill to finish with one hand above the rim, maneuver around the defense with euro steps, or earn trips to the free throw line. Jones improved his POA defense to fight over screens at the top of the key more effectively to generate the turnovers that are the lifeblood of SFA's explosive scoring runs. While there is still room for improvement as an efficient scorer in the halfcourt, our scouts took note of the improved consistency of his scoring outputs as well as some improved playmaking that make him a more balanced threat on a nightly basis.

-Scott willed his way to a Regional Championship and a State Semifinal appearance before a shoulder injury cut his night short, turning in a herculean performance as a dynamic playmaker for a Meade team that went 25-2 this season. Scott turned in several 30+ scoring outbursts despite being the focal point of defensive gameplans, showing an improved maturity in his reads in the halfcourt as a guard that was difficult to speed up or turn over. Love the pace that he played with coming off of ball screens and the diversity in his shot diet as a guard that took what the defense gave him while flashing improved passing off the bounce. Our staff anticipates an uptick in his recruitment this offseason as college coaches get a chance to check in on the Anne Arundel County Player of the Year with [program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'].

-Malonga's improvements to his offensive skillset were noticeable throughout the season as a wing that continues to grow every few months. Malonga improved his handle to react quickly to defensive stunts at the ball to cut down on turnovers and gets into his jumper much more fluidly off the catch or pivot to create better finishing angles in the paint. He used his athleticism more frequently to clean up teammates' rotational mistakes with emphatic blocked shots both around the basket and on the perimeter as a dynamic defender that has picked up his pace as the game slows down for him. While his best basketball is still ahead of him, college coaches should continue to ramp up their interest as he returns to a [program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill'] group that will look to build on their 16u championship run.

-You always know what you're getting from Mancho whether the scoring is there on that particular night or not. Mancho gives his team a vocal leader both on the court and from the bench (cannot stress the importance of the latter enough in today's landscape), plays with energy at both ends of the floor, and has improved his touch from both the free throw line as well as around the basket. His timing in both the setting of the screen and the roll to the rim off of it have improved to cut down on offensive fouls in addition to more space for his guards to operate in the halfcourt. If he can become a more explosive leaper to capitalize on the positioning that he fights for around the rim, he could develop into a devastatingly-effective rebounder and play-finisher around the rim.
