We're at the mid-way point of April and have taken in a few weekends of grassroots hoops. It's always a great opportunity to get evaluations on prospects who are in a different environment than playing with their high school team. You may see a change in role, overall confidence or a player being put in scenarios to showcase skills that you don't normally see.

Below are some wings/bigs belonging to the 2028 class who have proven they're trending in the right direction this spring.

Miller has undoubtedly been one of the most impressive 2028 forwards I've seen since the beginning of the spring. His activity and overall assertiveness at both ends were aspects of his game that I only saw in flashes during his challenging schedule at Mt. Zion. Now on a Durant 16s team that needs an alpha on the wing/forward spot, it looks like Miller could use the next 3-4 months to set himself up for a breakout junior campaign. Miller and his group were dominant over the weekend in Manheim and moving forward as EYBL play approaches, his production and versatility are going to be key to their overall success.

Stanfield missed a chunk of his sophomore season due to injury, so seeing him on the floor on a consistent basis should allow for a more accurate evaluation of his improvement this spring/summer. He flashed a little bit of everything over the weekend as the 6'6"-6'7" forward shot it with accuracy from outside against the zone, made good decisions at the high-post both as a scorer or distributor and did a nice job of establishing deep position inside to battle for second chance opportunities. He and [player_tooltip player_id='2715192' first='Nash' last='Avery'] will form one of the more versatile frontcourts as both present intriguing skill sets as threats to dribble, pass and shoot from all three levels of the floor.

Similar to Miller mentioned first in this article, it's the aggression that Allen has been playing with that has stood out most. He's never had an issue of looking the part as his 6'7"-6'8" frame that features broad shoulders and a developed base has always allowed him to establish an inside presence. However in years past, I always left wanting more from Allen and over the weekend, it was clear he was playing with a bit of edge and purpose to him that overwhelmed his matchups as he bullied them under the rim before laying it in. He was tracking offensive rebounds consistently and even threw down a couple that he timed perfectly to flush down with one hand. Defensively he was more locked in and moving his feet swiftly on high ball screens and effectively recovering back to his man rolling to the rim with high hands to block any potential passing windows.

Kebbeh is a name that we'll monitor closely moving forward as he caught our eye a month or so ago as the stalwart for a stout Springdale JV team. At 6-foot-7, the rising junior plays with impressive bounce around the rim. His motor is always running high and he brings the type of intensity that is infectious with ones that he shares the floor with. Kebbeh is a mobile forward who runs the floor with purpose, has a pride in protecting the rim or controlling the glass and an offensive skillset that is still under construction, but comes with enough ability to score consistently from 15 and in.

Expecting a huge spring and summer on the horizon for Avery, who is one of the more gifted athletes when scanning a talented 2028 national class. The versatile 6-foot-8 forward will be the bell cow for this Melo 16s group and have the freedom to grab-and-go after hauling in defensive rebounds to lead transition opportunities and showcase his playmaking skills. Over the weekend he had several possessions where he tapped into another gear while in space and blew by defenders with a clear takeoff path and once that opportunity presents, there are very few who can deny him above the rim. Also had moments in picking his spots against the zone from the perimeter as his offensive skillset continues to round itself out. One of the more tenacious shot blockers you'll find in the region, Avery looks to become a certified national name that quickly climbs up boards despite already being considered a top-50 prospect depending on which recruiting service you frequent.
